Cool, did you go to penn tech? My cousin went there for welding a couple years ago. I used to hang out up there sometimes and go drinking.
I could probably get the money together, I'm just being lazy I guess. Plus I'm not sold on the 1UZ yet. I tend to change my mind on a daily basis, and it...
There's a clean looking one on ebay right now for about $5200 if anyone else wants to see if they can pull this off. Just search for "1GZ" in ebay motors.
I'd buy it myself, but I can't even afford to to the 1UZ swap I've been drooling over.
If the sensor didn't come pre-wired with a harness that includes a ground wire that goes back to the gauge display then it's probably either not critical that it's super accurate and you're fine grounding it to the block or chassis (make sure the ground is good and clean). All the electronic...
I absolutely agree with you there. I always disliked how they did that with every readers ride car. The same look that's popular in socal isn't what's popular everywhere.
I figured someone would have, it seems everything has been discovered/forgotten/rediscovered 10X over with this car by now.
I wasn't able to find the schematic that guy used, but I found this one which might be the same or very similar if anyone is interested...
I bought oil lines from california-hoseempire on ebay end they fit perfect and seem like good quality. The oil feed line kit cost me $36 shipped. Maybe try out that guy.
I don't always buy stuff on ebay, but when I do, I prefer sellers who are small volume and have detailed item descriptions...
I know what you mean with the adjustment thing, it's a real pain in the ass. If I had known they didn't have an adjustment knob before I ordered them I would have saved up my money and got a set of coilovers.
Speaking of coilovers, how do you like the HSD's? Have you had them for long?
No, that's overkill. You'd have to pull the pan off the engine and bake it too because all the high heat paints require high temps to cure them. Oil pans only get to about 240 degrees max.
+1 on the VHT paint. It holds up to MUCH higher heat than the other brands. It's the only paint I've ever...
Has the charging light been on since before the LED swap? Has it been on ever since the 1JZ swap? Is it a Soarer 1JZ? (If all 3 answers are yes, I know how to fix the charging system problem, PM me)
If you post a want ad in the classified section I'm sure you could buy a factory water line set from someone who's stock twins blew already. That would cost less and be less hassle than aftermarket lines.
There are lots of people with blown twins around the forums, I'm sure someone has them. I...
Has your friend with the koni's tried adjusting them? They need to be between 3/4 to full hard to match most lowering springs. Mine were bouncy at half hard and going to 3/4 fixed it.
KYB designs their shocks/struts a little stiffer than stock. I'd estimate it about 5-10%. That's about perfect...
Take off every screw you can see (except the tiny ones behind the gauges on the circuit board, since they hold the gauges in). Then unclip the air vents and there's screws hidden behind them. Take those out too. Then the black part should come off. You'll need to unscrew some wires if you didn't...
Also want to add that the 550's are outside of the 20% correction capability of the stock ECU. You'll throw "rich" codes with them in and the car will run rich.
Guys with the 1JZ have upgraded from their stock 370's to 440's without any piggyback though, since 440's are just barely within what...
It is frequency based, and the correct RPM signal pin is "RPM1" pin number X17 (the largest connector is the X connector).
If you're sure you have the correct pin hooked up then call the UAFC manufacturer and ask them what the problem is. Maybe you got a defective unit, it happens.
Yes those people were misinformed.
You most definetely don't put the resistors in the map wiring.
The 440 injectors are high impedance and the 550 are low impedance. You need to add a ceramic high Watt resistor in each injector power wire so the injectors don't burn out the drivers in the ecu...
GR-2's are underrated... they are pretty durable with lowering springs. I ran them on a few cars like this and they held up for years of daily driving.
