quick question about grounding sensors

so im in the process of wiring some gauges and i was wondering what would the best way to ground the sensors. can i ground them to the chassie or do i have to ground it to the battery?

If the sensor didn't come pre-wired with a harness that includes a ground wire that goes back to the gauge display then it's probably either not critical that it's super accurate and you're fine grounding it to the block or chassis (make sure the ground is good and clean). All the electronic gauges I ever bought came with a ground wire built in, including the $10 oil temp gauge I got on ebay.

I have prosport guages. are you saying that the ground on the sensor should connect to the ground on the guage? sorry for the dumb question wiring and circuits is not my best subject

Prosport gauges just get plugged into the gauge. The only thing that gets a ground is the power/ground harness. Obviously, only the ground wire is what gets grounded, not the power wire. I can't remember exactly if they were separate harness with the sensor harness.

So now, you just plug in the sensors. Map sensors are three wire plugs, temps are two.

Knowledge : Owned these gauges. Sold them with a red car. Still going to this day. Used power/ground/illumination behind the panel left of the steering wheel.
