Congrats on the hopeful fix!
Now what does that picture show other than bugs. Is that a new wrinkle on the header panel? Results of some Bama heat? or just a reflection in the photo?
It's recommended that if you get a JDM motor that you plan on at least putting a head gasket on it before installing it in the car. I have heard that if you want to run without an EGR, that you need to have the JDM ECU, so you shouldn't have a problem using the JDM one
I took the car and put some 93 in it today. Also drove it on the highway for a couple of miles (expired tag and all). No more popping during boost!! A requested civilization, out of the neighborhood photo:
Thanks James! If you also use the link provided in that thread, it takes you to JSeaman's step by step instructions. He is doing it on a turbo motor, and mentions it is all the same except for the distributor/CPS.
I will be adding some 93 tomorrow, and fine tuning the idle to the best of the...
I typed a long disclaimer when I posted that link.........I wonder where that went
What I said was I definitely don't recommend doing what you are doing. It's true the body plugs are all different, and if I recall, there are 6 connectors on the motor end you have to replace (cost me $60-70...
I will be having a small personal celebration at my brother in law's tonight.
I got my timing light to work again this morning, and I got it timed to 10 degrees BTDC, and it idles now worse than it did before making that small adjustment. As I type that, it hit me, shouldn't I have someting...
It runs..Idle Demon is now Dead!
All it needs now is a working timing light. I took it out for a ride and brought it home idling like it should. That's been the problem for a long time. Today, I set out to do everything possible to fix the idle that has plagued this car for as long as it has...
I'm in love! 2JZ in a MKIII is a fat pig with a badass motor, and it's overdone. 7MGTE in a MKII is a much lighter car, still with a badass motor. This looks like a build I may one day need to reference.
Your time slips don't give any indication of which car you were.
Here's another vote for anti-paint! I used "Aircraft Remover", which is sold at auto paint stores in aerosol cans to strip them. It's about $10 a can, and I believe I used either 3 or 4 cans total. Spray it on, let it sit, rinse it off. I think I hit 2 or 3 tough spots lightly with a brillo pad...
