    Checked out head to toe!!!

That's a great one George! I would've kept a straight face and said, "Its an '03 supra. Like the new body style?"

    Checked out head to toe!!!

My most recent story was a trip to a local BBQ place. Some teenagers were admiring the sup and asked if it was for sale. I said "sure, $12k". They were like "WTF!! I can go out and buy a brand new one for that!!". I said, "Hey, go ahead. And let me know which dealership is selling new Supras.."...

    Car Covers

Don't go too cheap - you will get what you pay. I have a covercraft block-it 380. It fits the car really nicely. I got it from autoanything.com for $141. Now I haven't used it much, but its water-proof and it breathes. You don't want something that will hold moisture against the car.

buy-oem-buy-oem-buy-oem Little bird who replaced 3 POS "rebuilds" says "buy-oem". Search SM and you will find many others that say "buy oem". Did you try hitting it with a hammer? Really...

    New on the forums

Head south. Get away from the rust belt. I've had 4 southern supras, the one I paid the most for was $3200 with very minor rust, beautiful interior, turbo, targa, and it ran well (totally stock). So what if its an automatic - you can swap it out later when you have the $$. Fixing rust will cost...

My mkIII went up in flames!!!

Toyota still sells the post covers new. I think it was like $8? Bad part is, there is a plastic ring that sits on the alternator post itself that this cover attaches to. The cover does not come with this ring. Jeff at Champ says its not a part number he can order. He thought it might be...

    No Electrical Power

Replace all three battery cables. Doesn't matter how good they "look". Mine looked great, but the two going to the positive terminal were bad inside. It costs maybe $35 to replace all three 20 yr old cables? And, this issue drained my nice new battery very quickly. So once you get new cables...

What is your life outside of SM?

My name is Tracy. My money pit is a 1990 toyota supra. To fill the money pit, I am employed as a computer consultant for a small tech firm. I have a bachelor's in computer science, and I've been in the industry for 20 yrs. My other job is being a single mother to my 2-1/2 yr old daughter (who...

My first speeding ticket, anyone have info on the trial?

Perhaps you can play the speedo card. Worked for me. I got pulled over for doing 78 in a 55. After seeing my spotless record, the office apologized to ME for having to write the ticket because I was 20+ over the limit. I had no excuses, I was simply not paying attention (sups looove to go...

    Videos of good running Supras

George, I'll be sure to read that out loud to my 90t when I get it back. ;) Bluechulappa's "after" video sounds alot like my car (before the exhaust leak). So, our engines are not being rebuilt to factory spec.. Probably takes more time and effort to get the clearances just right..So my...

    Videos of good running Supras

A "poonk"? More like a moment's hesitation and then the idle resumes. You will see the tach needle move ever-so-slightly. It does it once its warmed up. Well, its good to know I am not alone ;) But neither of my 87's or my 91t had the miss. Or the tapping. If I had the car I would do a...

    Videos of good running Supras

THAT'S IT! that's my car! Almost as loud, very close. So perhaps the variations we have are related to how the topside of the engine was rebuilt. My car also has a very annoying miss. You will hear it about once every 40-60 seconds. I'm thinking about changing out the spark plugs, going back to...

    Videos of good running Supras

My 90t definitely has a tick. Most easily heard when the hood is up. Recently it got louder and louder and became a putt-putt. Popped the hood on it yesterday with it running, determined my downpipe has a leak in it. Second time in 18 months! I don't ever remember my two 87 NAs ticking...

Strange things found while working on Supras.

I ripped out all my carpet, and here are the treasures I found (Sonic mint was mine): Better find - Allen helped me change the valve cover seals (they like to leak!) and while we had the cover off, he checked the top of the engine carefully with a flashlight. He found a washer the size of a...
