There are sensors in the doors, rear hatch and hood that, if the alarm was set, would go off if someone was trying to break into the car. My guess would be there is a short in one of these.

Yeah, that's the answer - Yank it. It's 20 yr old, so it must be a p.o.s.

Boosted516 - start with this link:
http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=BE&P=87

There are four places it monitors: hood, hatch and both doors.
I'd bet one of the sensors on the back of the keylock cylinder in one of the doors is misaligned.

edit: PCguylovesSupra beat me to it.

First... stock or aftermarket alarm?

What happens right before the alarm goes off?

In my case the alarm would trigger whenever I tried to unlock the passenger door with the key for my date. In this case I opened up the door and found that the contacts on the switch were dirty causing the connection to fail occasionally.

"We" can't really help too much with what little information you posted.

The factory alarm did not have a shock sensor so motion would not activate it.

Help us help you!

My car also did this the first night I had it. The alarm went off twice in the middle of the night, but each time I ran outside and no one was around.

I didn't lock the car for 3 weeks, and it, or nothing else was stolen. I don't think anyone was messing with it.

you know the little rubber covered spring sensor when you open the door?
you should see your open door light on the dash light up when the door is open. try pushing this little sensor in with your finger, if the open door light doesnt turn off then the sensor is fucked, goto the junkyard and get a replacement. its the same sensor as most toyotas and i know for a fact that the 90s corolla uses the same sensor if you cant find a supra.

Options:
1. follow the instructions in my sig. BUT, you might have difficulty finding a nintendo controller in the parking lot of Taco Hell, best to just carry one...:sarcasm:

2. remove alarm system. Time: 30 mins. Cost: FREE. Search MKIII tech for instructions.

I had the same problem. Very intermittent. Sometimes it would behave for days and sometimes it would go off each time I opened the door. Often it would go off after sitting for no appearant reason. My problem seems to of been the yellow rotary switch on the back of the lock cylinder, driver side. It just unclips and can be taken apart and cleaned. The thing is not sealed and fairly gunked up. I ohmed it out before and after. Just did it today but so far so good. It's just a bit of a bitch to get to.

Just to add, check to see if the red light in the door comes on. If it does and the over head doesn't it is the circuit board behind the dome lights. Mine had some cracks in it, so I soldered jumper wires to by-pass the cracks.

Mine goes off if I try to unlock the drivers side door first (Stock). I'll probably just remove it/upgrade at some point, but for right now, it's easier/cheaper to just unlock the pass side first.
