Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

I hope you're not replacing the head gasket just because you have some mild condensation on the filler cap and in the PCV lines?

    Remember Aloshan?

Guess he couldn't handle the Supra: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Supra-1987-Turbo-BUILT-7MGTE-/261046631741?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item3cc7977d3d $15k spent? On what?

why can't people determine the difference between fact and opinion?

I think it comes from the different eras. Younger people tend to assume the internet is always right no matter what. Quick, easy to obtain answers are a lot easier to go with than actually spending time researching something. Witness all the MHG's that are fitted to Supras without proper machine...

Removing a tensioner spring in the tranny?

The 2 range solenoid can play up and cause a no drop into low when slowing to a stop. It could be a simple problem, puling trans codes would show it up.

A340E shift solenoids. Anyone tried any other than Toyota OEM?

It's a solenoid. A simple on/off device to control oil flow. It's pretty hard for one to be better or worse, they are very simple devices. I think any brand will be just fine.

A340e how to adjust line pressure

Two things. Your trans is shot, replace or rebuild it. And stop driving a car with a slipping trans, it'll only get worse, never better by itself.

    Performace upgrades for the 7mGE????

Headers and exhaust make a good difference, a shift kit if auto also helps a bit. Also ensure the engine is in tune and everything works. The GE is far more friendly in the day to day real world, much more off the line performance and no annoying lag when trying to keep up with traffic. The GE...

    Budget NA build

Sorted out the exhaust, bought a $10 motorcycle exhaust baffle and welded it inside one of the tailpipes. Wasn't happy with the accumulator shimming, very harsh. I didn't want to spend time removing and refitting the valvebody to play with shim lengths, so I bought a shift kit. Easy to install...

    1996 Volkswagen Polo 1.4

That would imply the dealers and technicians who work on these chunks have no clue either, as the vehicle was VW serviced and repaired through it's whole life. Brazil are good at many things, but reliable cars is not one of them.

    1996 Volkswagen Polo 1.4

Do yourself a favour and sell that POS right away. Friend had one from new and nothing but incredible amounts of trouble. It had TWO manual gearboxes and a clutch put in it before 100k kms plus many, many other problems.

    BHG Repair

Don't coat a head gasket that has a surface finish on it, that Toyota gasket looks like it has one. Get the head lightly skimmed, don't skimp on it. I've used a product called gasket stripper in the past for head gaskets, works very well, but smells and seems just like regular paint stripper to...

    busted A340?

You don't have to fill a torque converter before installing it, the pump will do that.

Anyone ever replace their hatch glass before?

Do it properly. You WILL remove paint, so prepare to paint at least the outside of the hatch after you're done. I use a large craft knife (the ones with blades you snap to resharpen) and run around the inside of the windows. Then I use a 3M scotchbrite wheel to burn/abrade the rest of the...
