Swapping in a whole different engine is a lot less work then tuning a standalone. :sarcasm:
You have quite possibly the easiest to tune standalone you could buy. I have cars up and running (yes, even driveable) in 15 minutes using any brand of cheap wideband, working from a basemap that...
Um, ours? :biglaugh:
JK, if you need anything done machine work wise, bring it by the shop. We used to use Superior, but after getting lied to and overcharged for work that sometimes wasn't even done completely, we found a new place that is a lot more honest and trustworthy.
You mean instead of using non-turbo pistons, and have problems with it pinging on 91 octane pump gas? :icon_bigg
I wouldn't think that replacing the damaged 230k mile 2jz-ge pistons with new turbo pistons would be unnecessary. I would much rather use forged pistons designed for a turbo...
I just dropped off a 2jzge short block at the macine shop yesterday!
I had an old 2jzge engine sitting around that had been overheated and damaged the pistons, and a 1jz head from someone who ran it lean and messed up the pistons just enough to burn a little oil, but the head was fine...
If it's only going to be down for a few months, just put some fuel stabilizer in the tank, but make sure to drive it around for a few miles to circulate the stabilizer before parking it. If it's going to sit for more then 6 months for sure, then I would drain the tank.
Luckily we checked it before trying to start it (but the pump does not work), the gas smelled so bad that we had to look in the tank, and we were going to put in a Walbro anyway. The last thing we want is rust from the tank getting pumped into the injectors. We're going to run carb cleaner and...
We had a car come in for a 1jz swap, and look what we found after we noticed the gas smelled all nasty!!! :aigo:
Drain your tank if you are going to let your car sit for a long time!
Yes, we buy ct26's! They must have a wastegate solenoid, no coolant or oil pipes attached, no big cracks in the exhaust housing, and no super terrible shaftplay. Damaged compressor wheel is ok, damaged exhaust wheel is not good.
The dwell needs to be at 2.1ms to work correctly. The ignitor determines the dwell, not the standalone. If the pulses are too long, it will have issues at high rpm because the pulses are too close together for the ignitor to function correctly.
I starting using only platinum or irridium...
Good eye!!!
It says ".5 Toyota" because of the Toyota axles, plus Toyota is just cooler then Suzuki, we all know that. :biglaugh:
The Suzuki logo was missing when I got it, and I had that Toyota logo sitting around from a 1jz clip LOL
And the tail lights got changed when I found a...
Dude, this thing only has 80hp at the crank! :biglaugh:
It's all in the gearing. In 4wd low it would literally crawl straight up if I had enough traction. A few times we did go almost straight up! It will idle up a super steep incline, I can let it idle in gear and get out of the truck and...
With enough money you could make anything into a rock crawler! :biglaugh:
It's a fun little truck, and it still gets great gas mileage even with 35" tires!
It only costs $20 to fill it up!
I bet you read the title and thought I was smoking crack, but it's totally true! (that I have lift pistons, not that I smoke crack LOL)
And those 1JZ lift pistons helped me ramp a 1154 RTI score at the High Desert Roundup '09 yesterday! I had the best RTI score for a short wheelbase vehicle up...
