    post pictures of your exhaust!!!!!!!!!

i took my side pipes off... i dont think im going to put them back on because i dragged them more in the 2 days After going from 225/60/16's to 225/50/16's than i did the entire year prior. sooo... i decided a change for the quieter would be welcome. so i hacked up a 2002 WRX axle back and...

    Trouble With Painting Mouldings

its definitly contaminants in the material leeching out when the solvents of the paint are laid down. the paint itself is lifting. also, just use 400 grit as mentioned before. thats the roughest you want to use before laying down any paint. also, painting the softer urethane strip isnt...

anyone else have problems with front calipers seizing?

ok, i was hoping this was only a problem i encounted with higher-mileage cars, but now my 74k mile car is doing it and i cannot figure out what the problem is caused by. my ex's car did it and my old 91 did it. when her car started doing it, it was so bad you could see the front rotors...

    Filing piston rings?

the standard file IS the "right tool". thats how its been done for decades. these new piston ring filer tools are a new thing, its just an easier way to do whats been the industry standard since the dawn of the automobile performance age.

    LS400 4-Pot brake upgrade for MK3 adaptable?

well, if you can fit anything other than a pro-star or aluma-star over MKIV-sized brakes and bigger, youre the man. mostly because aluma-stars are bad ass and not cheap. aside from that, im actually talking about cars that turn, not just straight-line cars. to be honest, i had no straight-line...

"axle back" exhausts in slip-on style (via motorcycle parts)

thanks for the thoughtful feedback guys. like i said, i wanted to avoid using a V-band if possible since it ends up being something that i can snag on something like the crest of an entrance to a business plaza or rocks/broken pavement on the road to my house... i forgot to mention that i...

"axle back" exhausts in slip-on style (via motorcycle parts)

yeah i have thoughta bout that and its also been suggested too. i personally dont like cut outs because they still exit under the car. i really dont consider that a viable solution. cut-outs just seem like a half-assed attempt at having a loud exhaust or for someone who lacks commitment to...

    LS400 4-Pot brake upgrade for MK3 adaptable?

qwik, it definitly does. i personally happen to know a guy who does body drops, 4-links, c-notches and various other chassis stuffs so i think him and i are going to make different suspension components. probably over DOM chromoly, like 0.125 wall is what id imagine. once i do that, itll open...

    Filing piston rings?

the ring filer is a nice tool, and yes you do both ends together. again, be dainty with it and light with the pressure. they are file-to-fit, not grind-to-appearance ;) now with the ring filer tool, since the grinding motion goes downward, that can leave burrs on the bottom of the ring...

    LS400 4-Pot brake upgrade for MK3 adaptable?

also... i dont think many people at the stage of requiring bigger brakes are still rocking 16's on purpose... except me. im rocking 16's in the back because 16" tires just fall in my lap for free... and i can get them mounted and balanced for free... the sad reason why i dont have the volks on...

    Filing piston rings?

actually, the trick is to mount the file in a vice, pointing towards you. then you hold the piston ring in both hands and close it on the file. push onto the file so that the burrs are on the inside diameter of the piston ring and you dont end up pulling small chungs of ring facing materiall off...

    retiring from the 7m

unfortunately, i dont think you guys know all that much about DSM's if you are saying that 3 bolts can hold 400hp, 18g's and 20g's are good and that a DSM can be faster than a supra for the same or less money. 18g's suck balls, 20g's suck balls. Force peformance turbos will blow away any...

"axle back" exhausts in slip-on style (via motorcycle parts)

so, my side pipes are annoying me right about now, i wont deny that. ill never say that i dont like them or hate them. they emit some of the Coolest noises that an MK3 could ever make... however, i was on some twisties and my exhaust gave me away about 13 miles before the cop ever saw me. he...

    LS400 4-Pot brake upgrade for MK3 adaptable?

you can get goodridge brake lines for an MKIV. brake lines arent that expensive; that should be the least of your worries. also, the 95-02 LS400 calipers are aluminum; a little more than half the weight of the MKIV cast iron/steel calipers. the only catch is that the LS400 calipers dont have...

where can i get a 4" to 3" steel coupler?

can you cut and weld yourself? if so, do what i do: make 8 vertical slits down the inlet of the exhaust tubing. if you use a metal blade like a sawzall/reciprocating saw/bandsaw, the slits will be about 1/8" wide. if you use an air powered cut-off wheel, they will be slightly wider since...

fabricating liquid recovery tanks from scratch

idk, im not sure. i don thave anything on my valve covers right now and i just have 2 circles of oil film coating my hood above the nipples. the circle over the exhaust side is bigger than the intake side. i think alot could be subjective... it seems to chug like a toy train but my diesel truck...

fabricating liquid recovery tanks from scratch

hmm, yeah, i like the idea of that. is there any down side to having the inlet tube possibly submerged in liquid... and resulting in a percolation/bubbler effect? all i can imagine is just increased restriction.
