    Full rebuild!?

Lol, you should see the size of the oil stain in my garage right now...good thing my oil system holds 8L... Do you have the stock PCV line going to your throttle body, or just lines from the valve covers to the intake tube (thats what I went to and it made the oil problem 100% worse...no more...

Car shuddering under high boost, not making sense...

If its blown, chances are the o-ringing contributed. Are you in Edmonton? If so, and the motor is toast, that makes 3 of us now... climb aboard the group buy rebuild.

    Full rebuild!?

Well, unless you have leaking valves, leaking valve stem seals, and excessive valve guide clearances, it likely isn't your head. I'm saving my rebuild for winter....the car runs ok as long as I richen up the idle. It boosts just fine as well, though I'm waiting for my catch can to go above...

    Full rebuild!?

Oil in your air filter you mean? Do a compression test and be prepared to join the local "one low cylinder" team, currently inhabited by me. Chances are, if you are blowing by a ton of oil, your head isn't the culprit, its your rings. My motor has the exact same symptoms. By any chance, does...

how do your oil and coolant look? I have a feeling I know the answer.

    Hose heat protection question

which end of the hose is going to be against the manifold? Perhaps re-route the line to the oil pan. Otherwise, try a non-swivel fitting and position it such that the line is kept away from the manifold. I've got a 22.5 degree fitting going into the block sitting with the bend horizontal...

Blowby: how much is too much?

sad face. 150 149 145 148 152 115. Added oil to #6 and got compression up to 125. I guess this explains both the blowby and the slight miss in the idle. Fuck. Rebuild time. edit, upon further consideration, I will check #6 valve clearances. If they are in spec, I'm going to beat this...

Building a Aem Harness any help appreciated

FYI, I've had zero issues with idle using a 2jz-gte idle control valve. No re-configuration necessary in the AEM software either.

Blowby: how much is too much?

My catch can is on its way. Saikou Michi catch can, comes very highly recommended. Tuner was Justin Nenni. Probably one of the best out there. Like I said, we removed it to eliminate it as a potential cause of the boost "leak". I decided to leave it off to see if I could get away without it...

Blowby: how much is too much?

We were trying to diagnose why the car was dropping boost above 5k. He said leave it out... The way it was hooked up looked rather ghetto though, tapping a valve into the valve cover should clean things up. I suppose I should take a look in the IC. So far, the vapor seems to be...

Building a Aem Harness any help appreciated

I swapped the plugs on 5 and 6, and swapped the phasing accordingly...6 fired, 5 did not. How difficult would it be to modify the boards inside the ECU to gain access to 4, 5, and 6? Personally, I think it was stupid of AEM to pair up the injector channels...there was really no reason for...

Blowby: how much is too much?

So I made a modification to my PCV system at the request of my tuner, which basically eliminated the vacuum port from the intake manifold. Since then, I've been blowing oil into my turbo intake pipe to the point where the air filter leaks a pretty good deal of oil. I imagine the low intake...

Building a Aem Harness any help appreciated

I tried absolutely every possible combination of inputs checked on and off, and my injector was absolutely wired correctly. Injector 6 refused to fire consistently. I could see if it was completely dead, but it was intermittently firing initially, and then not at all. I might give it another...

    Changing Valve Stem Seals

You need a 14mm ISO thread to compressor fitting adapter, and a compressor that can supply enough CFM (hint, not the crappy tire twin stack special). If you lose pressure, you're in a world of trouble.

Building a Aem Harness any help appreciated

I had the exact same problem. 9/10 worked intermittently at first, and then not at all. I simply went back to semi-sequential as I just wanted the car to run. Maybe contact AEM about this. I'd like to know what is up as well.

    Strange stumble under WOT

I should be seeing what 16 is all about tonight... Also, my oil catch can can't get here soon enough. Going from a stock-ish system to venting the valve covers directly to the turbo inlet only (4") turns the turbo inlet into a catch can itself. Unfortunately, all that oil is ending up...

    Strange stumble under WOT

I was right, it was 100% stupidity on my part. I set the SPR setting of the boost controller too high. Cut it back to a conservative 4.5 and the problem is completely gone. I've only had the balls to up the boost to 12 psi but holy fuck the car pulls hard. I've never hit 100 mph so easily...
