4.570 on the head and i dont have the crank out on the JDM engine but the US main to deck is 8.712. both oil pan surfaces to deck where about the same.
yes i measured the head dome depth, piston dome depth and block deck to oil pan sealing surface.
theres got to be somthing going on with this engine. the throttle body is not on the intake if it matters. i pulled all the plugs, bolted up a trans bell housing and starter. i used a small...
JDM piston is around .082 dome and US is .113 dome.
just measured both blocks and there within .0010 of each other. i guess i will be pulling the oil pan tomorrow and taking a look around inside.
i can see a difference between the US piston and JDM piston tops. they both have two #2s on them the JDM one having larger numbers.
would a aftermarket piston usualy have different markings on the top of it?
i read more on the service manual and they are #2 pistons. by the look of the other piston the JDM piston would raise compression.
not sure on the head dome size.
head dome size is .630 on the JDM head in the flat spot in cyl #6 and .637 in the US head. the difference could be from carbon...
sorry for post in the wrong section. i have another blown 7M and that piston looks a little more concave. is there a high and a low compression 7mge?
the pistons look factory as well as it having a toyota timing belt.
i bought a JDM 7mge engine last week and did a compression test. the pressure is between 226 and 236psi. this is a long block with no belts on it and only a auto trans flex plate. is the lack of draw from the accessories why its reading so high?
i have the head off now and dont see alot of...

great to hear that. i chose them because they seam to know what there doing by selling a engine with new HG. all the engines i see in there pictures are real clean too.
Im going to put a new HG oil pump and some other things in the engine before it goes in the truck.
didi you do a...
well i bought a 7mge from a guy that basicly needs every machined surface redone. crank, rods, cylinder walls, cam bearings, cams, and the pistons are burnt up. the motor was ran with a seezed oil pump or no oil. i bought the engine for the wire harness ecu and other things it came with.
i...
any one buy a engine from them? all the the engines in there pictures look clean and have a 6month warranty.
im looking at the 7mge for $525 +shipping.

im expecting to put a headgasket, timing components and maby even a...
i kind of figured out the connectors by the ECU and i also figured out that the reound yellow plug with the tape goes to the rest of the body harness. it will plug right into my 86 4runner harness thats on the driver side.
i bought basicly the same off brand rebuild kit for my nissan 240sx motor. i had to replace the timing chain guides and head gasket. other than that the engine has lasted some abuse. i turboed it with 10psi about 25K ago.
if i where to buy that kit i would chuck the timing components...
i have a core to give them, im just not sure if the crank is any good. the block needs a bore and head need bearings.
i was thinking of bumping the Tq up on the head bolts before i drop it in. would a port and polish on the head do much for this engine? im in the process of smoothing out the...
