When i left wisconsin a few years ago, to move to Sacramento for school. i knew nothing about cars and little about supras. Now i have finished WyoTech and spent a couple years in the field, and on my way back.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Here is a little pic, we stopped in Reno for the night. After packing all day then driving 2 hrs through the mountains, fully loaded in an underpowered u-haul, i am pooped.

My best friend went to WyoTech... sounded like a nice school.

PS: No longer have a Supra.... but I do have something new and cool.

Yeah first person who came to look at it bought it. I cleaned it up real nice. He drove from Indiana but lives in Austin Texas. He was driving it all the way to Austin!!

I'll show you guys what I got in a bit.

I drove my 1jz swap from Longview, tx to my house in Oconomowoc when i graduated last year. No A/C ftl haha but it was a fun trip! My buddy had a quick 02 WRX so we had some fun on the way.

I didn't say that they HAD to do with doing a MHG, I just wanted to bring to his attention some things he may have overlooked.
So your saying you can just install a MHG on a stock block with just a milled surface? you can't or shouldn't re-install everything with the stock components (ie Rings, bearings, etc) Because our 20+ year old motors could use some freshining up, Which isn't that big of a deal, just wanted to throw a few ideas out there.

Sam

Sam,

Your original quote was quite misleading since, as Supracentral said, the only things which need to be done differently for a MHG is the head and block deck surfaces must be FLAT and have a smooth/low RA finish. All the other stuff you listed (and you said was a "huge process") remains unchanged regardless of head gasket choice. It definitely is easier to go with an OEM gasket, but IMO if you have the block out of the car you are silly for not going right to a MHG and calling it a day.

PS: anybody looking for a genuine Toyota HG, I have an extra one from my full engine gasket set $$$ that I can sell you since I am running a cometic. LMK if interested.

I know my original post was misleading, I shouldn't have said that was all directely related to a MHG job. I meant to spread awareness of things one might over look.. IDK these long days at work are frying my brain lol

I got Wiescos Chris
