2jzmk3,

Which tires do you have? The 275/50/17's? Aren't they 28" tall aswell, do you rub at all? I was thinking about getting the 275/55/16's that they have that are the same height that you have, but I was thinking they would rub becuase they are 28" tall??

Just wondering, do our cars have to be cut to fit a 10" tire, talking real slick?

I have 8.5's now and they hook pretty well on a prepped street, but was just wondering since I'm getting ready to go single, how much work would be involved in putting on just a 26x10 tire.

offset is your enemy. (for steering) When steering, you want a front wheel that mounts exactly to the middle of wheel (not sure what the offset would be) this reduces friction and makes it ALOT easier to steer.

dont know i dont drive around on those. victor from f&h will be a better person to ask since he drives on those all the time. but i wouldnt drive on them in the rain, its a little scary, especially if you are making HP.

They're are fine to drive on and if you're not an idiot you can drive on them in the rain me n Drbowser have. This weekend I had to do an 2 hour drive home on them. Just didnt boost and drove normal and they were fine.

My friends been driving on slick RA-1s in the rain for the past two weeks. Sure rain is socal isnt that bad, but I guess he's been doing fine as long as he stays under 40 when its raining. traction control also helps.

so yeah, you can daily drive race tires if you dont mind replacing them often

Here's the formula for tire height.
IE: 275/55/17

275 / 25.4 = 10.826
10.826 x .55= 5.954
5.95 x 2= 11.909
11.909 + 17= 28.9"

so i got wheels and tires to fit..

15x10

28x10.5x15

i love it when people say things wont work, or wont fit..... this is no body modification, i have to roll the fender some more so they wont rub, and lift it up a bit before i take it to the track...

so i was amazed by the weld racing magnum wheels and after snooping around thier website ive seen they have a 13" and a 10" bead loc wheel. has anyone tried these? or know if they would fit? that would give an amazing amount of room for tons of sidewall

For your power, the saw blades will be fine for rear. If you plan on upping it, you could go with an RX7 rim with a 11.5" slick although wouldn't be necessary again. I ran 1.5 60fts on a 10.5" slick with no problems on my old set-up.

I'm wanting to run the 15" on the back to give me more side wall and take some more shock out of the drivetrain. I will be running a 26x10.5x15 or 26x11.5x15 ET street so I may run a 15x9 wheel.

I need a front runner in 15" for two reasons 1) safty, I will never run a bias tire with a radial on the front again. 2) the cost of a 15" skinny is much better than a 17" that will fit over my AP racing brakes.

"I ran 1.5 60fts on a 10.5" slick with no problems on my old set-up."

I will not be running a slick I will be running a ET Street. A 10.5 slick is much bigger than a 10.5 et street. I belive the ET drag or Slick is a mesument of the contact patch and on a et street is a over all width.

Thanks for the input but I'm more intrested in the back spacing needed for the front and rear with a 15" drag wheel set up. If a 15x10 is over kill on the width I will look at a 8" or a 9".

Thanks,

Jeremy

CCW makes a skinny that will fit over the brakes. (16") I'm sure other brands do too. I said slick meaning ET street also. They are both slicks, one just has a few grooves. They are almost identical as far as width, trust me I have checked on this.(just not available in a true slick in a 16") For a 15" wheel, available are 28x10.5 or 26x10. Backspacing on a 10" rim would be around 7" (to be safe)
To given an example of how good 10.5's are, I have seen a few MKIV's run 10.5 inch slick (15") and run 1.38 60fts. :icon_bigg.

IMO, a 26x10.5x16 is fine for you IMO.

So, sorry to bring back an old thread, but... I want a new set of rims, that aren't expensive..

I've been looking at American Racing wheels for track use. I want a 15x8... I think...

But, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to offsets.. Does anyone know which of their wheels will fit offset wise?

I can get a very good deal on 2, $168 shipped and new for 2 of the Outlaw II wheels.

Thanks
