give it a year or two and I promise you will start seeing BIG power 7M motors... But what it's going to take is a few guys going out and PROVING what a 7M can do, and how we do it, and teaching others to follow suit... I want to prove

Thank you, Jake. Same goes for me I hope!

I am currently building a 550-600hp 7m. I can testify that it is NOT cheap like these other guys have said. I think I've got $2800 in the short block so far. I know I put another $1200 or so in the head. Supporting mods cost a lot too. Koyo Radiator, Cam gears, Walbro, Injectors, AFPR, Oil cooler setup, clutch that can take the power. These are other important things that have to be taken into consideration.

HKS drag 7m.

800+ all turbo from a destroked 7m :naughty:

It was also street legal in Japan at the time.
LOTS more than that has been done. Mibrum was estimating 1200+ at the crank a while back, I think he's well over that by now.

There was a privately owned drag car in Japan that was above triple digits as well.

800+ hp is neither streetable nor practical in ANY way.

But if you can, why not? LOL

We could make a 7m run 1200whp if we wanted to.....just like the 2jz.

But both require EXTENSIVE and EXPENSIVE parts.

Motto:

Good horsepower parts are not cheap.
Cheap horsepower is not good.

It seems the Mk4 crowd has blindsided the rest of us supra owners into thinking the 7m is a crap motor. The main reason is because mk4 owners spend twice the money on their cars, not only buying them but tuning them.

Its easier to spend LESS on an older car, than a newer car....its psychological.

Again, If I put $20K into my 7m ( like the majority of the high HP 2jz crew does) I would have the same HP. :icon_razz

Ummm nope the difference being anyone dropping that sort of cash will have a clue how to build the engine to survive ;)

No sign of RK or BHG here and I hammer mine just about everytime I drive it!

yay... alot of it has to do with aabuse too. i cant stand it when people just start their car up, slam it into first and rip it up, redlining every gear, cruising at high rpms... eugh nasty stuff... im stock right now, so my opinion isnt muich, but i like driving the supra timidly.. it makes the times you punch it alot more rewarding

I have the same goal. I've added up everything that I'm going to do to the motor. Its up to $5455.99 so far. Not including fuel upgrades, turbo, IC upgrades, and exhaust upgrades. It will cost quite a bit in the end. I think i added up something just under 15K for me to actually "finish" the Supra and get it to where I want it to be.

It wont be long before a 1000+whp 7m dyno graph is posted on here....
We're all waiting eagerly for this! Especially from someone who isn't afraid to run it at the track, like a good number of the dyno queens that post 1000+ nubmers on the JZ series. :icon_razz

Yur adicted, just like me... You might be able to sit still for a little WHILE, but you'll be back at it... I just have that feeling...

Who said 800hp isnt streetable? Why? Because you cant hook off a red light? I cant wait to feel 800hp on the street... What you guys fail to realize is that just because there arent many MKIIIs puttin it down, there ARE Vettes, Vipers, Cobras, F-bodies, boosted 350Zs, and many other cars out there that ARE... Where Im from, around here, we have some MEAN ass cars that are on the street... The holy grail of EVOs is a local guy... *The infamous black EVO that put down 900+AWD* So, I dunno, maybe where you are, 300hp is big dawg braggin rights, but around here, if you arent pushin 500, you might as well sit on the porch with the ladies and sip iced tea... :icon_razz
