I have been a 7mgte owner for 2 years. Been a turbocharge :evil2: for ever. It's obvious that this motor has plenty of potentional. Why everbody that has a 800+ 7m is spraying. 2jz make this power boost only. To my fellow 7m people, where we at?

Maybe I should rephrase my statment. At 2k6 there are more 2jz at 800 horses then there are 7m at 600 without the evil oxygen. Does this motor lack the technolgy to make 900 horses without the happy gas?

i think it's more along the lines of "the owners lack extra deep benjamin lined pockets"...because it sure isn't modesty that's holding us back!

Most of those guys making that HP level have more money than sence!

The 7M is quite capable of making very high hp, it just takes lots of cash, and the right combination of parts.

The 7M GTE has great potential. Not many people have really tapped into that potential yet - much like the 2JZ GTE of a few years ago.

Can the 7M GTE match the power potential of the 2JZ GTE? Only time will tell.

Anything is possible with the right parts, tuning, and lots of MONEY!

Hefty? Please elaborate on that one...

I believe it's due to the close spacing of the valves and therefore the lack of room to upgrade more than 1.5mm os

You need to keep something in mind.

5 or 6 of the MK4s that dynoed at TK6 were SHOP cars, as in Supras with unlimited money being thrown at them. Dispite this, 2 MK3s dynoed at almost 700 rwhp and those were individuals cars.

If you dont look at it in the right context, it seems like the MK4s are unstopable juggernaughts. If you see it for what it realy is, you'll know it's just cars with shit tons of money thrown at it. ANY car could make that much horsepower if they were shop cars.

The only thing "holding the mk3 back" is copious amounts of money being thrown at it.

haha, its not the head holding us back. hahaha.

Check back with me in 2 months and I'll let you know what a tuned, built, GT4067 powered 7M will do... *on boost alone* I think the only thing that'll keep my motor from breaking 800hp on boost alone will be my 800cc injectors... If anyone feels like donating or trading my 800cc RCs for a set of 1000cc RCs, let me know...

I dont think the 7M is a weak motor, I certainly dont think the head is weak either... A good P&P, multi angle v/job, over sized valves and a built valve train will wake it up...

As far as it taking money to build a bad ass 7M... That's true... You dont wanna know how much I've spent so far, and Im not even half way there... But if you wanna PLAY beotches, you gotsta PAY! Ask guys like IJ, Group A, Justin, Dr. J, Ron, Slow66, Duane, David Z, Manny... They'll tell you... This isnt cheap...

The problem is, people see the MKIII as an "OLD" car, so it's cheap, and they expect alot from it, for cheap... I got this kid, OutOfStep will know who Im talking about, he comes over, has this Supra, pos, it was an NA with NA tranny, that had a turbo motor put in it, rod knock, pulled motor, bought it like that, doesnt know if the motor will work, doesnt know anything, BUT, he thinks for $2000 he can get the motor rebuilt, installed, make 400+hp and STILL buy rims... THIS is the mindset of 90% of the new young owners of these cars... And when the HG blows, or they get rod knock because they beat the shit out of it and dont change oil, or dont let it idle down, etc... they think the car is a pos and bad mouth it...

The bottom line is, like I've said before: give it a year or two and I promise you will start seeing BIG power 7M motors... But what it's going to take is a few guys going out and PROVING what a 7M can do, and how we do it, and teaching others to follow suit... I want to prove, and I want others to prove, that HEY, you CAN make big power with a 7M, you dont HAVE to swap in a 2JZ...

Im really proud of the MKIIIs that put down the power at TX2K6... I wish they were ALL 7M powered, not 2JZ, but I still love the fact that MKIIIs were putting it down... Next year we need a 1000+hp MKIII out there... 7M powered I hope, but I dont care, lol, I just want someone to throw down the gauntlet!

I am creating a MkIII Smackdown at the Dyno Challenge in Vegas this year. Tony dropped ~825 on the spray last year and I am sure he will be pushing for more this year. Slow66 has expressed an interest in coming out to participate as well this year and we are also looking for more people.

Remember that it wasn't too long ago that the highest hp MkIVs were just breaking 600whp. We are also seeing more and more MkIVs that fit into that same "I wanna hit 800whp for just $1000" mentality.

The 7M will make power! You need to pick the right components and put them together and they will not be found on E- bay or made in China.
Keith,
Maybe you should add a class for cars that are only made from E-BAY specials! You could call it the "7Mebay"

the most i'll be planning to make is 600. My turbo has proven this on another car that it is infact 600+hp tried. Will my motor be able to handle it? you bet your ass it will be.. Will I ever get to 800+ probably not because it isnt a goal and it can be done on the 7m but listen to what they are saying. it takes money. Alot of the 2jz's that make 700+ have already put anywhere from 20-80+k into their cars. Most of those 2jz guys are dumb enough to pay rediculous amounts of money to go faster when common sense will point out how much more they can get else where for cheaper. They see something they want, they buy and they can do it cause their pockets allow them too. It's a green world

Tony has what 799whp w/ a 100 shot of nos. Nothing THAT spectacular but still pretty friggin good, he gives the mk4 guys a run for their money and on top of that his supra is damn sexy.

but yah..

i dunno about you but anything over 400 hp on the streets has a bit of wow factor to it for me, on spray or not. its nice to see a mk3 putting down some good numbers tho! :icon_bigg
