why would anyone really want wheels so big in a supra? Handling would be like in a SUV with these...

I'll have to diagree with you on that. It's starting to become a trend to have 20'' wheels in the rear and 18s or 19s up front. I've been kicking this idea around for sometime. When I saw the new ZR1 with a 20x12 rear with a 335/25R20 tire and a 19x10 front with a 285/30R19 tire. That did it....you guys know I'm crazy so I doing it! The tires are Nitto Invos fronts 245/40R18 18x8.5, the rear 285/25R20 20x10(high +35/ 6.88 backspace). The wheels are DrifZs 506GM. The rear tire measures 25.61" (a 275/35R18 is 25.578"). I had my front tire in stock. I'll post pics soon. These are my "dress shoes" my "work boots" will be BFG drags and skinnies:biglaugh:

I guess you can get away with it. A LOT of neg camber will be needed. only reason I said that it wont fit because he said a 285 size tire. That is really big.

10 +35 will fit. You may not need to camber at all.

Supra will look 4x4 on 20s. To pull off the 20" status , avoiding the 4x4 look, and get the 10" +35 in there effectively, the fender has to be rolled (maybe even flare them), get some 265 30 20 tires, then the car then needs to be fitted with a body kit and then slammed low.

whats the chances of these fitting with decent sized tires (275/285 rear)

19x9.5 +22
19x10.5 +22

the 9.5s just needs a roll. and i would probably go with 265 tires.

the 10.5s, you'll need to roll and flare the out the fender, then go with 275 tires.

When I talked to my wheel guy today he told me the ideal offset for a 20x10 for our cars is +40. Your +22 is going the other way..Help me here will a +22 give you a deeper lip? Never mind I got it.

I don't think so.

This is a 9.5+12 with a 235/40 on a rolled fender with a little overall pull, not much though.

So I don't think a 9.5+22 would fit with a 265. And if you're running a higher ride height, it's just going to stick out more and look worse. You could run a decent bit of camber to get it to tuck in, but I still think it would be a little hard.

This is a 10+18 with a 235/40 on it and a rolled fender.

A 10.5+22 will stick out a little over 2mm further out. So a 275 will definitely not fit. And the way the rear fenders are, you would need to do some cutting and welding to really pull them. With the way the inner fender connects to the outer fender, it's hard to pull them like you could on other cars without doing some extra work. At least I think from looking at it quickly a while back.

A 265/30R20 is taller @26.259" that would be harder to fit. Factory tire height is 24.858". Comming in at 25.61 on a 285/25R 20 is 3/4'' difference.

Yeah, you're going to have trouble finding tires that will work with 20s on these cars.

No..not really I found four different makes in a matter of minutes. It is cost that makes it an issue. The Nitto was a good price @ $210. It also helps if you sell tires everyday to:icon_bigg

What size and what overall height though? I didn't do that much searching, I just looked at a couple different tires on tirerack to see what they had in 20s and pretty much all of them were over 26" tall. Which I guess you could fit, but it would look stupid unless you were tucking most of the tire and had a similarly oversized tire in the front.

20 and 25 series tires will put you in the 25" tall tire, a 285/25R 20 is 25.6". There is little difference between the front and the rear,(245/40R 18 front @ 25.7"). Three weeks ago we put rear tires on a 360 Modena. I fell in love with that staggered big wheel look. Now the Vette will have a 20" rear wheel! If I planned on driving my car everyday I would go smaller. With all the crazy stuff under the hood it almost has to be exotic outside too. I am not going for that 22" on a Pontiac Grand Am look!

I was thinking rears for both the 9.5 and 10.5. I also assumed that he was talking about two different sets of wheels.

You're right, Tim, about the 9.5 not fitting 265s at the front. I'd go 235s on the 9.5+22.

As for as my thoughts on the 10.5+22, I didn't consider this type of drop:

My thoughs were along this line. This is a 10.5+30, I believe. Don't know about the tire size.

You're correct on those calculations.

Referencing a typical tire/wheel setup: 275/35/18, with a tire height of 25.58":

A good size for the 20" would be 265/25/20, with a tire height of 25.22".

Going back to the question of will a 10+35 fit? Without respect to the tire, yes.

I didn't look at the 285s, I started with 265s and then saw what other sizes came up for the tires that came up with the 265s. But the 285/25 would work. I don't know if 18/20 stagger would look that great on a supra. Maybe 18/19 though.

The car may be a little lower than most, but if you look at the way the wheel moves, it moves out a lot during wheel travel. Like when I start jacking up the car, when I start to unload the suspension, the wheel fitment looks like crap because of how the wheel moves. A little added camber should change that, but in my opinion cars with bigger wheels/tires and a high ride height look worse than stock with sawblades. I don't mean that people should be tucking tire, but with a big gap and big tires the cars look goofy.
