Can you test fit them prior to purchase? Mine came off of a 350z as well but had a +38 offset on them (and not as wide). 255's on the back are pretty well flush with my setup but I want to run 275-295 depending on fit.

Have a chance to pick up some wheels from a local.. currently on a 350z

Not sure what tires he has on them now... waiting on a reply... however specs are:

Front : 18x9 +23

Rear : 18x10 +11

If they will work, how much tire can I run before having issues? How much stick-out am I looking at?

Thanks guys
-Chris

Those 18x10 +11 will sit very snug in the rear. I've seen 18x10 +10 done with a lot of fender roll and pull, pretty small tire, and not extremely low. Make for an angry stance though IF you can pull it off.

Also for what its worth I BELIEVE that some later model mk3 supra's have a slightly wider fender. Also from what I remember ALL GA70 (1g-gte supra's) came narrow body. It could just be a myth or I could just be wrong but it would be worth looking into if the fitment is too close by few millimeters.

I probably could test fit them... however I want a bit more rubber under the back so I may pass on them... not much of a stance guy anyways :)

If I look into them more and test them, I'll snap some pics.

Thanks for the input guys

I'm pretty sure someone has already asked this, so I apologize if this has already been answered. What offset is necessary for the ShineAuto widebody kit? (example of 10" rears, and 9" up front.)

Is my setup dangerous?

I really need new tires and don't want to change my wheels at the moment. I've been daily driving on these sizes for 10 years.

wheels 7.5x17 front and back
front 215/50R17
rear 275/40R17

This size rear tire was on the wheel when I got the car and I've been through 3 sets. I like the way they look on the car and how wide they are, but after reading through this thread, I'm a little concerned that they are dangerously wide for the wheel. The shops that put them on never said anything or had trouble that I know of.

My 7mgte doesn't have too much more than stock power, I was thinking about putting 245's on the back and 225's in the front, though I'm a little concerned that 245 won't come out to the fender as nicely at 275 does.

What size tires would you recommend for car?

they are definitely too wide for the wheel. i would go with a 245 at most on a 7.5" wheel.

When you say 'too wide', is it for safety reasons or cosmetic/style? Firestone sold me the last set and put them on without any warnings.

I'd really like to get some Hankook Ventus r-s3's

thinking about getting:
font: 225 45zr17
rear: 245 40zr17
do you think those diameters will work alright for me? I'm hesitant that the rear size will have almost an inch less diameter as my old wheel. Should I find a different tire that offers 245 45 17 for the rear? Does the car speedometer run off front or rear wheels?

current setup:
wheels 7.5x17 front and back
front 215/50R17
rear 275/40R17

discount tire says this car originally came with 225 50 16, this means that my currently setup wheel is .8 inches larger diameter than stock. a 245 40 17 would be .14 smaller than stock. a 245 45 17 would be .82 larger diameter than stock. thoughts?

Thanks for any help

Width has nothing to do with speedo. The factor of sidewall to width counts though.
I'm 255/35 18 and that puts my speedo about 3kph faster than true speed.
Just setup your sidewall so that it matches as close as you can (for height). If 245/40 is too high, try 245/35. Personally I wouldn't go lower than 35

Most tire manufactures recommend a 9-11" wheel for 275 tires. Look up your brand of tire and see if it gives you a recommendation.

Go with the 245/40/17's.
It is only 0.6% different then stock. So at 100mph you are less then 1mph different.

The 245/45/17's will be 3.2% different. I'd try to keep it under 1%

If you want to compare different sizes, this is the calculator I used:

Not sure about how they would be on stock height. I'd say to wait for coilovers. My rears are 18x10.5 +22 with 265/35. But I'm on coilovers.

How close is the rear to the rim to the coilover

Question (if anyone knows)... what offset do I want on a 17" rim that is 10" wide to put 295's on and have the rubber still inside (or not protruding) the wheelwell?

I have tried the calculator and its not accurate enough (meaning, it doesn't tell me when I will hit my suspension on the inside or peek out too far on the outside). Before I go through the whole order/purchase process, I just want to do it right. My goal is to get as wide of rubber on the back without having to roll or pull the rear quarters. Currently with the 9.5" 255's I have with a +38 offset, I don't hit at all. Its basically perfect except on a very severe dip at high speed. Then the inner lip of the quarter taps the rubber. That's the only time it does.

Wondering if I am describing this clear enough to get an accurate answer. I pretty well want to go as wide as possible, but tucked in as much as possible without hitting anything. Pretty sure I can go 295's.

You're going to need a roll to fit that in the rear. The closest I was to the shock/coilovers was 275/35 on 18x9.5 +35. You can use that as a comparison to your measurements with a 17x10.

hmm... so 295's will be too much. 275's may be what Im left with then. And a +35-40 is pretty well where I would want to be then with a 275 on a 17x10

275/35-18 is about 1.3" closer to shock body. so for a 17x10 +25, you should be able to fit a 295/35 without affecting the speedo. It will be 1.3" closer to shock body and stick out 2.2" farther towards the fender than stock sizes.

You might be able to run a higher offset, but I haven't personally tested anything like that. like I said, use it as a guide.
