It needs to be a 30 profile at 285 size to keep it in ratio with the stock wheel or <1%. 285/30 were the closest on keeping <1%. Why a 40 profile on wide tyres? That doesn't make any sense.
I had a look at a few pics with 285's on a 10" wheel and it does bulge a bit depending on the actual brand of the tyre itself. So it's either stretch, or a bit of bulge. I don't care which way i go, as long as it can happen, so looking for some input from others who may have done it. It could be a case of 285 for the rears, 265 for the front. A 255/35 for the front would make it <1% too.
275/35/18s are almost 3% difference, and tire rack doesn't stock a 30 profile.
