140mph gps verified on a back road. ran out of road had just a little bit more roo to go. like 2 grand i beleive.

89'turbo 5speed, 157 @5xxx rpm, 17" konigs, 245 sumitumo htrzII's, eibach pro kit with kyb gr2's all around,
11psi, open 3 inch down, spec clutch/fidanza flywheel, hks ssq, apex'i intake.
i laid the smackdown on a mustang and had the urge to keep going...then i figured i had better not push too much more (my luck that is, daisy was ridin like a caddy at 157!)

O.K., I hit 135 - 137 MPH on the front straight at PIR and each time the car would get light, still controllable, a lot of air under the car feel. I never tried to go WOT to see if it would lessen or worsen. The instructor I was with said that was common on cars set-up like mine. He suggested that I get a (Supra) track car to go safely faster. Also, he noticed pulsations, suspected the tires were sending pulses. Went to Les Schwab, three were out of balance at that speed.
Also, was still on street tires and stock rims. Breaks are stock; MODs: NEO Super DOT 610, brake fluid, stainless lines and brake booster brace. Ambient temps were consistently in the low 70's. I wasn't able to brake as hard as I needed, so I wasn't as competitive out there as I'd have liked, but I also didn't have brake fade in turns four thru six, but did by seven, a tight 115 degree turn and passed by those with better brakes. Good news, by turn 10 they were back! A good thing too, as it is right after the back straight...
For what a Supra is, still a fine all-around auto!

135, and I went from Champaign, IL to Naperville, IL in about 1hour 20min. it is about 150 miles total.

personally the roads where I drive almost always have cars, even at 2am, and I dont like taking risks so I haven't passed 80-85. ever. I've had my car about 4 years now too. no tickets though. cops have been sitting around waiting lately too so that's another good reason I don't speed much. too easy to get nabbed.
come to think of it i've never traveled in a car faster than 90 miles per hour that i remember. interesting.

Fastest in my car? On a long straight back road in IN, south of Chicago I ran the speedo up to about 147. No idea what actual speed was. I have run over 100 several times with targa off and had no vibration or other problems. Well, except for everything wanting to blow out of the car! I have run 80 regularly with the top off. Speed limit here is 70 but everyone drives 80-85 on interstate here.
fastest ive gone in my 84 was ~160-165 a few times on a long bridge we have here. there was no traffic. felt pretty good all the times i did it. one day we had some wind and i was gonna try it but at ~140ish the car wanted to change lanes to easy so i just killed it. since my spedometer cable broke the first time when i redlined in 4th, i calculated the speed by tire size, rpm, and diff. using the r154 with 245/50/16 nittos and a 3.727 diff. rpm's were just shy of 6k in 5th gear when i would kill it.
I hit 145 yesterday with the targa off. Any faster and it wouldn't be safe. I'm having balancing issues on my front tires and it vibrates really bad after 30mph. That and I only have 3 lug nuts on one of the fronts lol stupid weak toyota studs broke.
GSP verified I did like 185mph and still had a lot left in it , it was tite i had the windows down cruisin like i was doin 35.
speed? dunno. Fastest I've ever had the 88 was 6955 RPM, 5th gear R154, 3.91 gear, 275X45X17 rear tires. Shit was going by quick. 27 psi of boost.
Funny when I stopped a lot of the exhaust hardware had a pretty red glow.
