it's exactly what they are...

I'd trust slots from a reputable dealer, crossdrilled WILL crack regardless of who does it...

my crossdrilled are doing fine... made by powerstop, they buy brembo and drill them... only in areas that dont touch the center vein.

i have porterfield r4s pads also, i love them, heres a link to a dealer here in CA who has a price you wouldnt believe...

http://www.livermoreperformance.com/porterfield_1.html#toy

59 for the front and 59 for the rear... and yes, there REAL porterfiled pads...

but after having a long conversation with the guys at livermore performance, i decided that i would just buy regular non drilled, non slotted rotors... as there isnt that much of an advantage, he said the only real advantage is when you actually upgrade the size of the rotor and the size of the caliper. (next time i need rotors)

I wouldn't touch cross drilled either, I guess I learned something about my rotors today though.

Wow, that's a good price. Can I order it from them online? I'm in Illinois. I will probably get Brembo blanks, where's the cheapest place to order them?

I just heard back from the brake shop. Here's what I need, these are the prices if I order it from them:

1 Caliper - $166
1 Brake Hose - $41
4 Akebono Brake Pads - $178
Rotors Re-Surfaced(cross/slotted) - $80
Labor - $331

Or, I can order this https://935motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=79_14_38_266&products_id=631 and get 4 Stainless steel brake lines, brand new rotors, and Porterfield R4S pads. The only thing is this package doesn't come with a caliper which I can get for around $60. If I had them install this package, they would charge $395 for labor. What should I do?

Go to napa and buy new calipers they are pretty cheap. Probably get 2 calipers for $166. If your going that far into the brakes you might as well do new calipers anyways. Maybe shop around for cheaper labor or someone on the forum close to you. Brakes are easy but you shouldn't do them if you don't know what your doing.

I like the 935 setup as its basically what I have(not from them)...

They are rebuilt, $40 each front and $56 each rear. Just because some shop says you only need one now is no reason not to do both. Calipers are something I always do in pairs and they are cheap enough that its good insurance.

-you could get all 4 calipers for less than that...

-braided stainless brake lines are $100 for a full set

-akebono's are only like $50 an end

-resurfacing is usually like $15 a rotor around here, and if they're crossdrilled or slotted they generally can't be done (chance of breaking the bit on the lathe)'

This is why I do my own work....

Well only one caliper is bad. Doing it myself is not an option so idk.

See if there are any supra buddies around to help you out...

My dad said that I have to take it to a shop in case if something goes wrong, I have a contract and paperwork.

Not like it matters as they'll wash their hands of it and say you "abused" the car...

Told you there is a reason I do all my own work...

If your dad says that, is he paying?

No, I have to pay for everything. But I'm 15 and the title is under his name so I'm stuck.

Ouch, tough luck man...

Try going to some other shops and get an estimate...

That's another problem. This is the only decent shop within walking distance of my house. We'd have to walk since my dad is the only licensed driver in the house.
