If you were down here in Houston I seriously would help you fix your car dude :cry:

Hey appreciate that but the good news is I've isolated the problem and may have corrected it for a while.

I thought the wires going into the cps were bad but it turns out another spot on the harness was the culprit. I used my trusty pocket knife and cut back that encapsulating piece of petrified rubber that the cps wires run through and found a couple of more cracks. I'll edit later with a picture. Anyway, after moving all the wire shielding away from the cracks I can wiggle the harness and the car won't die. I drove to and from work, almost 100 miles round trip, with no problems.

Sounds like a good temporary fix Ken. But as I have found out, once a harness starts going bad, the troubles won't be over, just delayed. Delayed for how long is anybody's guess. I hate to bring bad news to the thread right after good.

:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:
Actually I do expect more issues with it as time goes by, but until I can FIND and AFFORD a NEW automatic harness for it, it will just have to be patchwork for now.

BTW, you signature scares me.

Ha, I didnt even notice that until you said it. I have no idea whats up with that. Anyone know how to get rid of it? Another thing I noticed is that my sig appears multiple times on a page instead of just the first post.

hows it coming along?

I haven't done anything with it in a while. It is running like a champ though. I hate driving it now since the brake pads are pretty much metal to metal. The brake light stays on most of the time because of it. I just haven't had the money to fix them. I'm still not able to go back to my part time job yet due to my neck. That job involves a lot of lifting in awkward positions since we are on small planes and I've been wanting to give my neck a full 8 weeks for the graphs to heal.

While I'm on the subject of ME, I'll update that as well. My neck range of motion has increased a lot, and I'm nowhere as stiff as I was, in the neck that is. My problem I still have is my right shoulder and arm still ache quite a bit and I can't sleep in certain positions without my neck, shoulder, and arm hurting real bad. I've been going to physical therapy and there's really no change. My therapist is beginning to think I might still have some nerve inpingement. So, I'm already scheduled to see my surgeon again on the 11th but I may bump that up so I can get another MRI done sooner. Pretty much most of the day I'm good and this ache does not restrict me any so I'm not going around in constant discomfort. So that's that for now.

Back to the car. I'm afraid it might be a while before any real progress can be made on it since funds are lacking. My truck needs new tires first, so that'll be another five hundred bucks ugh! I just can't seem to get ahead. Know the feeling?

not thread jacking, but as mentioned before I've had some serious work done to my skull to reshape my jaw so all my teeth hit, when I was little I never had this one tooth up front so I just got a implant *fake root* drilled into my head where I'm still choking somewhat on blood in the next few weeks I'll get the tooth installed so I have a complete set of teeth. so as of now I have 2 titanium plates, 1 titanium artificial root and 8 titanium screws. in my upper area of my jaw bone and cheek bone.

You two guys are making me want to go back outside and work on the car again. Your pains don't sound like any fun at all. Ken, I know how it is with the sleep position thing. I have that problem on both sides. I don't know what's worse, not being able to afford the brake pads, or having them for months, and never having the motivation to go do the work. I may need to do calipers as well on my rears, and that, I can't afford right now myself. So, tomorrow, I may pull them all apart, and know it's all gonna have to be done again.
