Go black wrinkle on the powdercoat.

ah yea I do see it im not 100% sure

I think it goes against the oil pipe? even looking at the pic it looks like there is a ring where the old gasket use to be lol

and ah ok nice that's a good dp

Doh, I put the green side toward the block this morning. My oil pipe is in excellent shape on that end, it still has the original green paint and is smooth and gasket free. The block side was a bear to clean up, so I figured I would put the "better" side toward it since it likely has a higher roughness average than the pipe after I removed what seemed like a tube of FIPG and a gasket that looked to be old enough to drink.

Cannot wait to add the downpipe along with the HKS Turbo Exhaust.

Happy to see the engine coming back into form. Not so happy this took me all day to do. (That damn union for the oil pipe...it so needs a double copper gasket like the power steering uses!)

Toyota sells them and I bought some from them recently. better off going with the hex bolts though that you can get at any parts store so they don't strip again but I had other parts to pick up at yota so said screw it.

Ah ok, I'm guessing they are less expensive too?

I cleaned up the engine bay this weekend, a couple cans of degreaser and many rags later it looks much better and is ready for a block to go back in. I cleared off a desk in my living room and started putting all the parts for mt head on it, trying to get everything together and ready for a quick engine install.

He was talking about valve cover bolts. I would go to Toyota for the cam cap bolts.

Gotcha, the po is starting to scare me with his shenanigans on this car. .. Water outlet only had two bolts, and that harness is a lot more trashed than I originally thought. I might have my hands full this winter

Car won't be done until at least next summer so I won't be able to give a review for a while.

Baller!!! I'd love to have a set for my car. I has a set of SS but the flex are so much better.

Oh man, since May this is what I have done:
Noted, i bought this car 2 years ago and it had sat for about 3-4 years prior to my possession to transfer everything from my 89 because it was rusting pretty bad from the rear shock towers/ wheel wells.
Replaced fuel tank + MK4 pump ( some of you guys might have seen pictures of the pump)
Repainted/ cleared the front end ( bumper, nose piece, headlight cover, trim piece)...PO was on the process of priming the car all black...Can't deal with all that rice crap so i had to repaint the car myself.
Tried to fix code 51 ( still haven't been able to fix it yet, for some reason I can't calibrate the tb on the 5 spd tb but on the auto tb it was cake and also tested on another running car to make sure my work was correct. Still can't figure it out)
Also transferred my front brembo blanks, calipers, EBC pads to this supra since it has been sitting so long that the caliper seized and molded to the rotors.
Transferred rear ebc pads and adjusted ebrakes since it was loose as fk.
Installed rear st sway bar while the tank was out too.
Installed White LEDs for the cluster.
Installed Short shifter ( might be for sale soon)
Painted the IC pipes in the engine bay with black high temp paint.
Flush brakes this past weekend

There's a lot more but i can't think of it right now.
I'm happy the car is up and running atm.

Need to install my TSX retro headlights so I can see at night.
The list goes on but she's coming together slowly but surely.
Here are some pics of the before and after the paint job I did, it looks great but from about 1-2 feet you can see the imperfection of not having a proper paint booth thus all the dirt got into the paint.
As far as I care, bought it with the bumper, nose piece, driver fender, headlight covers primed. Total cost of paint and reducer, and various supplies came out to be about $100.

PO also tried to prime some of the area on the passenger side, i'm going to wet sand and hopefully remove them. It also came with a primed front bumper/ nose.
Over all i think she came together pretty well. Needs stiffer suspensions now. Feels like a boat haha.
Sorry for the long post guys :p

Excuse the dirty car, she hasn't been washed for 5-6 years now i assume. hehe
