Heh maybe i'll enlist somebody to be camera man, I generally get to involved with progressing to the next step and rarely wash my hands to take pictures. I'll do a build thread soon, hopefully it up to par with many i've seen before.

Even with minimal pictures I find build threads are good car diaries. You can look back after a few years and see the huge difference, plus you get little ego boosts to help you when you start wondering "why".

86.5 is a unique year though. I cannot think of any other half year cars off hand.

Think of it as like having an amp that goes to 11!
That is true. Are 86.5's more rare than any other mk3 year? I haven't seen many others when I look at supras on craigslist

My 1989 has a production date of Nov '88, but it really is an '89. If yours has a production date of Jan 86, then it will be one of the first Mk3s produced, since that's the month that they started production for the Mk3 chassis. In that respect, it's somewhat rare.

What are the last six of your vin number? With those you can see what how many Supras were made before yours.

You wear a blue hardhat when you drive it?
Or is the hardhat just a symbol, indicating that the car is now "under construction"?

That's because the date on your door is the date of manufacture and not the year the vehicle was sold as, it's very common for the chassis to be built the year before the model is sold.

It has a N in the VIN which designates it as a 92, but it is august 1991. To me that's a 91. Oct/nov I could see, but August?
Yep why not? a chassis can't sit in a warehouse for a couple of months? I had a 70 240z that had a birthdate of march 69. As far as the government is concerned it's a 70 because it was sold as a 70 and had to meet all the requirements of that year. Even when a buddy of mine bought his 07 sti he bought it in October of 06

You have a pretty early one then. My 87 made in December of 86 is something like 47xxx I believe.

Lol missed that but my confusion stands.... there were less than 30000 in 87 according to the chart:p

Its the number for all mk3's so for the later models its in the 100,000s even though only a few thousand were made in those years. Mine is the 47xxx MK3 to be made in total not just for 87.

screw you year questions.

I got my drift lotion shipment today! I was kinda worried it got sent to my billing address and not my shipping address but i lucked out because my roommate was home to sign for it. New oil squirter bolts and much more. I'll take pictures when i get home maybe start a build thread.
