BUT, all the stiffness of the chassis is wasted if the subframes are not properly torqued down. Mine where nearly FINGER TIGHT, and tightening them to spec got rid of most of the shimmy with the targa off.

I can't wait to get my Supra up in the air in the new garage. My biggest goal, is to build a set of subframe connectors (also from the 3rd gen fbody crowd, so I know how much of an improvement they can be!)

our chassis is quite stiff for it's design, it just needs help. hard miles loosens stuff up and makes it sloppy. Tighten, replace, or repair the broken parts and it handles quite well...
honestly, I can corner harder with the top off because I can feel the chassis and I know when the limit is a bit better. Hard to explain, but the car works really well as a system when designed properly.
