IIRC drjonez was the one who claimed it was better than sliced bread for targa shimmy.

Larry A, Chris J, and I got this bar before nearly anyone else in North America.

Larry A's comment was: "Reduces flex with the roof out by 80%!"

Chris J has a hardtop and likely didn't notice any real difference with the bar.

I say this bar ROCKS! I don't have noticeable chassis flex with the top out.

You want to blow your mind? Get this bar (not the ebay ones - get the Do Luck bar) and start installing.

Start lining things up and disconnect the bottom end of the seatbelts. Then pull back the carpet and WTF?!? Did Toyota really do what I think they did? Yep. There it is - plain as day. There are perforations in the carpet so you can punch out a hole for the bolt that holds this bar to the body. Not only did they do that but they also put a threaded hole in the metal in the perfect spot for this bar.

Did Toyota design the MkIII Supra for this bar?

It is like you were supposed to have this bar in there.

no one has had any issues with chassis flex? ive had bad experiences with 3rd gen t-top camaros (once again i have a muscle car bachground) twisting- the doors wouldnt line up and shut after awhile. this is something ive always worried about with my targe supra now that im building it with a 600hp goal.

sadly, the 3rd gen f-bodies aren't made to nearly the same quality as our cars (ours where a hell of a lot more expensive as well).

we actually have somewhat of a boxed frame under our car while the f-bodies don't

yep, mustangs too...

not saying subframe connectors wouldn't help (as the MKIV's can get em), but it's not as bad...

BUT, all the stiffness of the chassis is wasted if the subframes are not properly torqued down. Mine where nearly FINGER TIGHT, and tightening them to spec got rid of most of the shimmy with the targa off.

Which sub frame bolts are you talking about?

lmao.

I can't wait to get my Supra up in the air in the new garage. My biggest goal, is to build a set of subframe connectors (also from the 3rd gen fbody crowd, so I know how much of an improvement they can be!)

won't do much as the twisting action of the chassis is just gonna rotate around the ends...

our chassis is quite stiff for it's design, it just needs help. hard miles loosens stuff up and makes it sloppy. Tighten, replace, or repair the broken parts and it handles quite well...

honestly, I can corner harder with the top off because I can feel the chassis and I know when the limit is a bit better. Hard to explain, but the car works really well as a system when designed properly.

+1 my subframe bolts were loose i tightened them now i can corner alot harder

with the top off it allows for more traction and less sliding also
