This is a weird case i've been trying to figure out lately. I've checked all the stuff it's happened twice the first time i searched, read up on it and it didnt happen again so i didnt post about it. It just happened this morning so i figured id post a thread about it now. It only does it right when i start the car and when i back down my driveway so about 5-10 seconds as soon as i hit flat ground it ALWAYS stops im not loosing coolant my overflow is full, my radaitor is full, no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil, no loss of power, no white smoke, no sweet smell, no over heating or even running a little bit hot than normal, nothing that would normally tip off the problem! So i came to you guys for ideas, what the hell is going on?! Its only happened twice and it seems like it only happens after i havnt driven it for awhile and only on my driveway.

Cliffs: Waterfall sound only on driveway, all signs check out ok, only done it twice after sitting for awhile, nothing of normal BHG.

any way the wind blows
Had the same thing going on myself, just the "waterfall" sound behind the dash, no other symptoms of a BHG. Burped the cooling system and bought a new radiator cap from the dealership. Has been gone ever since.

I drove the car today and didnt hear it at all. Could it be happening because im backing the car onto a hill while the cooling system is trying to pressurize? I was thinkin about it and the 2 times ive heard it have been when i have to go quick so i just jump in start the car and leave, Normally i let it warm up for 10-30 seconds the times ive heard it almost as soon as ive started it im in reverse because i gotta leave.

i dunno it was fine today didnt make any weird noises or anything.

who knows ill keep an eye on it.

my car does that, but im running straight water... -shrug-
i know its not straight water but i dunno what the mix is as i havnt changed it from the previous owner.

oh well cars been runnin fine even in the like 95 (101 index) degree weather we've been havin all week.

Running straight water is a problem. It won't cool as well as coolant/antifreeze, and will cause major rust and corrosion issues inside your block and radiator, restricting flow, and making it harder for the coolant to leech heat from the engine correctly. If you're running straight water, drain it out of the radiator and the block, and refill the system with 50% coolant, and 50% water. Even the cheap green coolant is better than none at all.

^^ Drain the system, put in the right water/coolant ratio and burp it. Depending on the degree of the driveway, you might need to raise the front end of the car with it running at normal operating temp to get all the air out.

isn't it better to run ur car with half water and half coolant, rather than only coolant or only water?

Ive been drivin the car all this week in 97 degree heat (like 105 index) and ive not once heard the waterfall noise so i dunno its not runnin hot and to be honest its running pretty damn good!

I sat behind some douche bag today for prolly 30 min idling with the a/c on and temp gauge never moved.

Straight water has a lower boiling point but will transfer heat better than a EG/water mixture. In fact water is the standard of thermal conductivity against which all other liquids are measured. It provides very poor freezing and (as you pointed out) corrosion protection though. Someone would have to be an idiot to run straight water for any length of time without an anti-corrosion additive.

On the opposite end as EG percentage goes above 60% freeze protection goes down. Starting with 100% water as EG is added the freezing point drops until a 60/40 ratio occurs. After that the freezing point rapidly increases. 60/40 gives the best freeze protection at -60 F. 50/50 is good to around -30 F. Fill a system with 100% antifreeze and it'll freeze around +8 degrees F. With antifreeze it's one of those cases where more is definitely not better.
