Two vehicles leaving from the same spot going to grandma's house...

Both have calibrated and correct speedometers and tripometers set at 0mi when they depart.

Vehicle one stops half way to get gas, but is only 2mi off the route... once fueled, returns back to the main highway.

When the two vehicles arrive at grandma's, the one vehicle which stopped for fuel has 30 less miles on its tripometer.

How can this be?
Both vehicles traveled the same highway, the same route... the only difference is this vehicle stopped for fuel 2 miles off the route?

:)

Grandma's house is 28 miles away.
You were driving a truck with a car on the trailer.
Made the 2 mile stop to fill the car up with gas for the track after Grandma's.
You made it to Grandma's putting 30 miles on the truck, but the car never actually drove a mile.

That's the best I could think of. haha.

As clever as a response that is, you forgot that you must go 2 miles to the gas station, and 2 miles back to the main highway. :)
