Hehe im running 16psi on upgraded ct-26 on stock headgasket (retorqued) with a really good tune so i dont detonate. I got a spare engine awaiting rebuild though, so I'm prepared for meltdown.

16psi on a stock turbo = stupid high intake temps = prone to detonation.

detonation + stock head gasket = no.

16psi on stock turbo = no.

:)

Running 16 psi on a stock head gasket with stock bolts, no problem. Thats great actually!

.....because I have HKS metal headgaskets, ARP studs, bearings and engine gasket sets in stock and ready to ship as soon as your blows tomorrow!

tune it for what your running it at now.
All it takes is one bad batch of fuel and you'll be ordering a new motor parts from bigaaron.
Going from stock boost to 1bar you will find a lot of hp gains. boosting up after 1bar you wont gain as much.

i dont know why everyone is basing it on boost. ok, if it isnt torqued properly the boost will lift the head off the block. but if it was retorqued properly and the hardware is solid i dont see this as a problem. detonation will kill the gasket. whether that be at 20psi or 10psi. i ran my ct upgrade at 14-16psi daily w/ a retorqued stock gasket. after 3yrs when the head was pulled it was starting to show some slight weakness starting around #6 but still no leaks or blown motors or any of the sort. we retorqued andy's head and yes the hg finally let go. 20psi on ct upgrade and 268,000 miles. willie must be in a world of hurt on his. he is running 17psi on a pt67 at over 500rw with a stock gasket. sorry to get off on a rant, but things like this get spread around so much that they become the "truth" when they arent nec backed up by real world experience.

I disagree. Things like you are talking about are the exception, not the rule.
There is PLENTY of real world experience out there that says the stock head gasket is unreliable and prone to failure at any boost level.

give it a nice tune at 1bar. no need to go any higher. just make sure the afr doesn't get into the 12's under boost and you'll be fine.

15psi is not that big of a deal. fuel pump not needed and he already has the injectors, which u also don't even need yet.

you'll be fine, have fun

see thats my point. any boost level. people are making it out to be 12psi you are fine but whatever you do dont go 2psi more or it will blow.

I ran my car at 14psi all last summer with a stock HG and bolts and never had any problems. When I pulled the head off it this past winter the HG looked great.
