Traction control display

Does anyone know of a way to hook up a lamp or so to indicate if the traction control is activated (that means currently trying to avoid spinning the wheels) ?

The reason I ask is that I recently had a few scares with the back end suddenly breaking loose during acceleration.
It would be nice to see a warning flash before it happens (if possible) and also to verify that it is infact working.

I almost lost the car this morning when I encountered a wet part of the road during acceleration.

400 meters later some idiot right in front of me locked up his breaks just after entering a junction for no apparent reason eventhough the lights were green.
I barely missed him by pulling the car to the left in an empty lane.

20 km later after turning left I almost clipped a cyclist who was short cutting against traffic in the wrong side of the road with no lights on.

Geez what a morning....:aigo:

since almost none of us have TC, most of the answers are going to be better tires.

what year is yours?

was it optional, is it aftermarket, are you talking about the lsd (i only ask because my uncle referred to my lsd as traction control).

wikipedia doesn't have anything on it, and i've never read anything on the boards thats not aftermarket in my two years here (but there's a first for everything)

if you had traction control wouldn't those acceleration related losses of traction not have happened?

There we go. WINNER. Yeah if you had traction control power would have been cut or minimized until you are stable again.

I was told by the seller that the car had traction control from the factory and I also asked the local guru here if it was true (he has more than 50 supras) and he said that my car has traction control. He said the late 92's with automatic here were standard with traction control.

I'll ask him again. But I think it does have traction control since I have never had any wheel spin no matter how hard I have tried to accelerate on dry asphalt.

Only on wet roads on summer tires have I had loss of traction.

The only guy with acceleration traction control is IJ, and that's from his standalone ECU.

Most Mk3's have antilock brakes, and you don't need a lamp to tell when that's active, you can hear it and feel it.

I'm not talking about ABS. I was flooring it. Not using the brakes.

Nevermind the TC for the moment. I'll try ask around here to see if I was misinformed.

But wouldn't a Supra mkIII be able to spin the wheels on dry asphalt if floored hard enough?

Yeah, unless it was N/A :)

Probably easy to get a chirp but a near stock 7MGTE with half decent tires probably isn't gonna spin the tires without some clutch dropping, or brake+gas if you're auto.
