Locust: Most Mk3 speedo's are a "rough guide" after 100 ;)
(If you remember how hard it was revving I can tell you pretty close how fast you were going based on diff/tires/trans)

Chris: Correct.

It's not hard to install as long as your subframe isn't rusty/cracked.

You're swapping in the whole Pumpkin and stub axles and if you're handy with tools it's around a 2 hour job.

A trolly jack helps as it's a heavy bitch.

because bay area pick and pulls are full of perfect supras.

the owners were too dumb they ditch the supra because of BHG. for fun i count the BHG. :naughty:

I hit 150+ in my 89 n/a auto! WOOOO... what was really surprising is that the acceleration was the same from 90 to 145 then it creeped up to 152. My 88 5spd with the same engine did only 140 flat.

Tollway, no cars, 2am, straight all the way. I speed 5-10 at the most when ever i see any car around me if i speed at all. I'm dumb but not reckless! lol

Long story short! 5500/6500=~.84 ~.84x140=118

I've did 156 on the dyno @ 5800 rpm with a 1jz. Some would say that defies logic................:biglaugh:

For the non believers of what IJ posted. You can argue with IJ, but you cant argue with math.

Here's the video and no he wasn't trying to get there as fast as he could. I don't even know why he let out so early. We'd been dynoing up to 7200 rpm. I was wanting to see how fast it would go...........oh well.

Depends on ratio

3.9:1 = 140 @ 6000
3.73:1 = 147 @ 6000

I can't see an NA doing it though just not enough power to push that much air without having a 5>10 mile run up.

When discussing top speeds I'm talking about GPS verified not going by the stock speedo.

IJ, Toyota said the 7MGE Supra with a 5 speed is only good for 131 mph when they did their testing. You are correct, it just doesn't have the balls to push to redline or fuel cut.

For future refrence...

RPM= gear ratio x diff ratio x mph x 336/ tire diameter

That will give you a close approximation. You don't know your tires actual diameter unless you measure the circumfrence and do some simple math, or get it from the manufacturer. The 225/50/16 IJ mentioned is about 24.7 inches in diameter.

No you didn't. No, I am not calling you a liar, just your speedo.
