once again.. what exhaust are you running?

When the car was on the road...stock....but I ran open DDP quite a bit over the summer and still never had any problems with anything. When the car goes back on the road in spring it'll have Randy's 3.5" catback :)

I've learned to deal with boost creep for now... i just watch my boost gauge... when it gets to 13psi i let off it a bit. lol. It sucks...

I wanna upgrade my turbo anyway, so when that happens i'll have them port my WG and all will be good. :)

I love the sound... but sometimes, just sometimes it does get a little annoying.

What kind of boost control do you have? Have you checked the vacuum line going to the actuator?

What are you guys comparing this to? I have a cooleeze dp which is like an integrated high flow elbow. Whats gains of ddp over that?

Right now i'm running a shimmed wastegate. :)

I swapped my regular BIC DP for this DDP and immidiately i had creep problems... didn't have creep problems on my regular DP so i fail to see how it can be anything other than the wastegate being too small, or somehow my flapper is not opening all the way...

My questions is, how the heck do you test if your flapper is not opening all the way?

i have both and run both, beleive it or not i have switched back and forth when i got sick of the sound but i have yet to do it after the boost creep issue i'll have to get back to ya on that.

They are the same really, its just that when i hit positve boost in the ddp i get to hear the turbo, also i hear the turbo spool ALLOT more so its sounds AMAZING on spool but its faded out once the wg opens. Idle is also slightly louder.

when i start to get up into the 4k-4500 rpm range the car slams into FC with the ddp due to creep. Still dont know if its a leeky pipe or the fact that the ddp is creeping. If i had extra exhaust gaskets i'd go test it right now.

That could be part of whats causing your creep. Try running a Boost controller alone without the shims, those shims are making it allot harder for your wg to open, thats their purpose. I need to remove mine and see if that helps my problem at all.

That is why it's a bad idea to shim the wg instead of a boost control. The wg actuator can only open so far, and when you shim it the fully open position is that much less open then it was before, then you put the new dp on which makes the turbo spool faster because it has less backpressure, and then you get the boost creep.

Thats exactly correct. I had a meeting with Randy today and I told him about the complaints and he just laughed. He says "Get rid of those shims!!" Thats pretty much the ONLY reason for the creep, unless you have a wg that isnt working properly. Boost controller or not, if you have a DDP, DROP THOSE SHIMS.

PS- DDP goes in next wednesday. :icon_bigg

So is anybody here boost creeping w/o a shimmed WG? My plan is to have a Tanabe Exhaust, Hi-flow cat, BIC DDP, & AEM boost controller, do you think I'll creep?

If the boost creeps up then just add some 550cc injectors and lex afm or maft and enjoy it! :biglaugh:

I'll be removing those shims tonight. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

I've been meaning to get rid of them anyway but i've been lazy.

Yep. The stock turbo's wastegate hole just isn't big enough to deal with the additional flow of the DDP and a big cat-back exhaust. Initially I got creep from the stock 6psi to 9psi. Once it got cooler, I would creep up to 10-11psi and hit fuel cut. My solution was to add a Walbro pump and AFPR, lower the airflow signal with an SAFC, and just run 11psi regularly.

YES... no shims, no bc... propperly functioning WG as well
