thanks guys! no rush here, I have university to keep me busy. This is a good stress release when I have some spare time. my 5m is still operating just fine (albeit slower than it should be) and the car is stored for the winter now anyways.

I'm currently thinking I'll bypass the the camshaft install on the initial startup. It's a $600 cost I could avoid ($400 for cams , 200 for the adjustable gears) and would let me have some fun that much sooner. There's no reason I can't install the upgraded cams later if money allows. I'll make an assessment when I'm closer to putting it back together.

WOW great build man and great car you remind me of me because my friends always make fun of me for spending my money on alot of "boring" parts but I feel doing things right are the most important thing. Also I would say it's dumb to do this motor build if your going to go turbo but if you got the motor for free and you put a few bucks in it to be brand new and your not going to swap it out for a few years I say FUCK IT it's the right thing to do because your not half assing it and you could have fun with this for now.

Well keep up the great work can't wait to see it all done,I'll keep my eye on this thread

thanks! I haven't gotten into the wiring yet as I just received my 84 and 87 EWD booklets from toyota to confirm the details. if interested, here's some wiring information I have collected online. Cartman's (link below) should be exactly the same as mine but I can't confirm it until I examine the books closely. It shouldn't be too bad as long as I go wire by wire. Two members sell sub-harnesses pre made for about $400 on celicasupra.com, but I'll be doing it myself.

most links pertain to 7mgte's which wiring will be similar (with concerns to the swap) as the 7mge.

Andy S 7mgte swap - excellent wiring information: http://andy.supras.org.nz/

Jim King's 7mgte swap...one of the first. gives you a good idea to what wiring is actually required and how wires are routed.: http://www.celicasupra.com/7mgte/

Cartman's 87 7MGE swap into an 84 Mk2 wiring write up. *may not be correct and is not for your year* http://forums.celicasupra.com/showthread.php?t=15286&highlight=7mge

doing some work on the exhaust side as I post this...just giving the compressor a rest. I am particularly proud of this. I think I am getting pretty good at this!....wish I had a flow bench to balance them all.

I'll hit them with some polishing compound once they are all done. pretty shiny right now though.

you know what you should get that would realy bring that N/A to life.I lighted fly wheel and a nice clutch it would rev up faster and you would get a lil more power out of her but for the most part it would be a nice mod to realy bring the car to life and I think the fly wheel for the 7mge is cheaper than the one for the turbo(but I could be wrong about the price)

Just a thought for you.

thanks for the suggestion.

I've driven a couple cars with lightweight flywheels and wasn't a huge fan, but it had an upgraded pressure plate aswell. I like the driveability of the stock system. I don't trust any ebay flywheels so fidanza is the choice, and that's a large amount of money for very little gain... money that would be better spent on cams.

Way to rep the MK II's. I sold mine and bought a MK III, but yours makes me miss it alot. It should move along smartly with the 7M dialed in. Nice head work, looking forward to seeing it all together! Don't forget to flow test the injectors, and a new oil pump, perhaps? Think about a 1 pce driveshaft, made a big diff. with my GTE. gj.

well your going to have the car for awhile so if anything once you have the car runing right and you wana have a lot more fun get the fly wheel I'm tellin you it's going to make the car ride so much diffrent and I think if anybody needs the fly wheel it's you(not saying anything bad)but it would go great with this kick ass 7mge build

Nice port work, and a great looking MK2. (Makes me wonder if I should have ever sold my 82 p-type hardtop.)

The only problem with my 82 as the howling rear diff. It did not like 125mph across MT in the summer heat on old fluid... (My own fault, I should have changed it out sooner.)

Never failed, but it wailed for years...

I would think a light driveshaft v/s the flywheel will produce better gains on your build for the money.

Also do the Comp Cam's valve springs. (Cheaper than OEM Toyota, and they have better rates and new materials.)

Good luck.
