Great build you have going here, lots of awesome fab work. Loving the huge turbo also :biglaugh:
Keep us updated on this im curious on how your tune turns out once your ignition problems are solved!

Thanks man I appreciate it everything has come together nicely. I'm just not a big fan of the 1J ignition with a big turbo:3d_frown:. The DLI should help compensate for that though we shall see hopefully this week, just waiting on the parts to arrive.

Me too :)

Your ignition should be okay at 15PSI, I think it's just your dwell.

That's what I figured it's just like I said I have a feeling my one iffy coil is causing me the majority of the problems:nono:, seeing as no dwell has been good enough yet as I'm always breaking up whether it be under light acceleration or heavy load:sarcasm:.

I think you are doing everything right as far as ignition. Just inspect the coils and put on new wires. Most people will not believe how much better the coils will work with new wires.

Yeah I expect a drastic change really, you don't even wanna know how the #1 coil and connector look:aigo:. The difference should be night in day..o the wait:crazy1:.

Well I got the new pigtails, coil and DLI all wired in just a little bit ago and let me tell you it made a pretty drastic difference just in driving:naughty:. I'm about to change the dwell settings and throw her back up on the dyno and see how it all goes:evil2:!

Good stuff man. I can't wait until I get my new pigtails. I have a feeling it is affecting my ignition. I even have an amplifier and it doesn't seem to help at all.

Well it helped in terms of free rev and accel but at .8125ms of dwell. Once I got it all in I went to my dwell settings and changed it to 3.5ms and the tach signal instantly went crazy on me and the engine duplicated it at idle, rev and cruise:aigo:.

I cannot get anything decent unless I run a dwell of 2.5ms and lower, but it'll still hesitate almost and break up under load like the coils aren't getting charged enough, but 3.5ms is like it's waay too long:ugh:. All my settings I believe are good, the ignition is just kicking my ass it doesn't seem to like anything no setting gets me something good, consitant and smooth.

Just curious, what kind of plugs are you guys running? I'm using NGK BKR7ES i believe and they are gaped at .022, should I try a different type of plug::shrug::? What do your guys timing maps look like, I will upload mine on here later if anyone would care to take a look:1zhelp:.

Post your timing map and I will take a look. My setup is very similar to yours so my map may help you out.

Cool man I should have it uploaded here in about 40 minutes if you'll still be on, how do you upload them onto a post?

Here's is the MAP that is currently running in my car, change it to .em4 to view it. If anyone could upload theres as well with a similar setup that'd be great so I could look at compare things as well!

After looking at mine the timing is pretty advanced throughout the whole MAP, but that was how it ran best when the dwell was at .8125ms. Would retarding the timing and raising the dwell to 3.5ms change how things are running?

How advanced is advanced?

At 0psi I'm at 41.80 degrees at 4k rpm, check out the MAP I uploaded on here. It's about 10 degrees more than ive seen on any other MAP, I think i'll try and pull back some timing and change my dwell and see what I get.

I've decided to re-check my timing marks today because something just isn't adding up, it was so long ago it feels like since doing it I feel like it should be double checked. MAPs are all good components are all good, just something with the timing and ignition isn't completing the equation yet.

We'll see, hopefully I'll be back with some good news:nono:?

I take it you already attempted backing the timing off and raising the dwell with no luck?

This won't do it. If it does it's because either the timing is where it needs to be or the dell is where it needs to be, not because you need to balance them or anything.

Where are you backing away timing, are talking mechanical, electronically or in the MAP?

There is no way to adjust timing mechanically on a 1JZ as it runs off the cam triggers. Since you have full timing manipulation IE: a standalone all timing retard will be done electronically in the timing map.

It sounds to me like your coils may just be old, I've heard of 1/2JZ coils making absolutely absurd power with no boost. My much weaker VVTI coils made over 675whp with a .26 gap.

What are your plugs gaped at now, and what octane are you running? Your numbers don't sound bad.

I also need to see the dyno chart
