Well so much for any good news that was going on. Everything has been going ok, but I got on it again today and it instantly started missing a little at idle like it's done a couple times before. The cyl. #1 plug has gotten fouled out bad a couple times with gas and carbon and I thought the culprit was a faulty injector since my A/F were sometimes going from lean to rich at idle but always settling on a perfect 14.xx, acting like it was sticking. I pulled the plugs and once again the #1 plug was all fouled out but smelled more of oil this time.

I did a compression test and got the following...
50psi, 145psi, 150psi, 155psi, 150psi, 145psi

Followed that up with an oil drop test to check the rings #1 didn't change, so I did a leak down test. Sure enough hissing out the exhaust valves. I have a feeling when the timing was a tooth and a half off and I slowly began to rev it to 7.5k the valves floated and touched. It still drives very well which is so weird, it'll only take a crap after a good couple pulls.

But looks like she'll be parked for a little bit until I get time to mess with the head, I'll keep you guys posted and if anyone knows where I could find a good head let me know. I won't have access much anymore to grinders and a valve lap machine so I don't think I'll rebuild this head just yet, I'll just hopefully find a good replacement for now:3d_frown:.

Hopefully soon, thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to try and find a good head for now and slap it on for a while. Look for a 2J block and slowly build a 1.5 on the side. I just need to find a head first:(.

Well just a little update, my head work is getting finished up today. I decided since I ended up with some damage to a piston in my bottom end it was going to be cheaper at this point in time to go with a 2J bottom end and swap that in.

So that's the weekends big plans, I'm getting the head today and then hopefully getting everything re-assembled and back together this weekend. We will see how it goes, hopefully the weathers nice:sarcasm:.

The engine bay is almost done as far as painting wise which I decided to do since I pulled the engine back out, and I will also be getting rid of the ABS to clean some things up:icon_bigg.

Well the 1.5 is now complete got it all finished up saturday night:sarcasm:. It feels amazing, at 15psi it pulls like crazy:aigo:. As of right now I just need to fine tune some spots on the map but it's running very well with great gas mileage and good hard pulls.

Hopefully within a couple weeks I'll have everything tuned in at 20psi and then throw her on the dyno and see what she does. That extra .5 is like a 1J on speed:naughty:!

Thanks man glad to hear I inspired someone in some way. I was finally able to get her back up on the dyno again yesterday. Shes still a little fat up top and after about 5 pulls fouled my plugs which called it a day.

My wideband took a shit on me in the midst of tunning so I couldn't go any higher than 10psi. My timing MAP is still really conservative as I don't have anything yet to monitor knock. I'm just waiting on a new sensor right now for the wideband so she can really start to breathe.

These are the 2 dyno graphs the 4th gear pull is the last one I made of the night, and as you can see plugs started shitting on me.

and 4th at the end of the night 423rwhp/383rwtq...

This was again on 10psi and really poopy 92 hick ville gas:sarcasm:.

As for the 1.5 all I needed was a 2J timing belt, tensioner and extend the waterneck bypass tube 7/16th of an inch, thanks to suprahero for that info!
