I have some problems with the steering wheel to. Im also 5'11". I usually have to crouch in my seat to see my speedo when im doing freeway speeds.

same, or i have to spend at least 45 mins playing with the tilt/telescopic wheel and electric seat after the mechanic has taken it for a test drive.

things i hate:
gas shocks on hood and hatch, when they fail. hatch shocks are a PITA to get unbolted, having to take off the trim. other than that, the shocks are cool at shows
lock bezels that pop off every now and then
weight, although its good to make it stick to the road; and:
how everything seems to go wrong at once.

Bad designs on the MkIII:
Intake manifold
Air flow sensor
Intercooler piping
Intercooler....
Exhaust piping...everything from turbo back blows ass.
Improper head torque rating
Boost gauge....why bother...
Coil pack assembly. Coil over plug is better, though they are forgiven since this is Toyota's first distributorless ignition system

I think a few people dont like that it wasnt made for all out performance. I dont want that in this car either. Toyota went for a very well rounded GT car, and I think did very well.

I am 6'2" tall, and no steering wheel problems....it has tilt wheel. Dont lay the wheel in your lap, and you could probably see it better.

Your complaining about height in your supra? Imagine me and my not so great proportions in my car. I’m about 6'7" tall. I wear size 20 shoes (most of the time). I do use some size 16 chuck taylors with the ends cut off for driving sometimes. I have the steering wheel up like a truck driver. But I can see fine heh. I just can’t see the TEMS lights with the wheel like it is now.

dropping the tank for the fuel pump is a major pita
definitely head bolt torque
put joiners halfway on the fan shroud so you don't have to remove shroud & fan in one go without destroying the radiator
fuel filter location, ideal location for safety but pita to get to
removing the front nosecone... puleassssee putting two nuts inside the guard just to make it fun to remove
(new zealand specific) making 87 trim out of metal (usdm 86-88)
not sending turbo 7M's to america in 86 :p
sending 1jz's & 1g's to new zealand :p

thats all i can think of at the mo ;)

o_O I use the cup holder all the time!?

I don't have many complaints or problems with the Supra other than the one between the shock towers. fixed that one already:aigo:

I keep stuff in the console, so the cup holder won't work unless I empty it. Even then the lid falls down onto the drinks cracking my straw causing a vacuum leak..

Edit: How many miles did you get on your first 1JZ Joe?

LOL j/k

Ok, we are all Supra fans here. Toyota enthusiasts. We are all fans of I-6 motors right? I am, just so you know I am not trying to start anything.

However, why the heck did Toyota not put service door for the fuel pump? Maybe I am a dolt and could not see the obvious way to get the fuel pump out without dropping the whole frelling tank. But that’s what I did. What a PITA.

That wouldn't really be a supra problem, only a MKIII issue. Toyota fixed that flaw with the MKIV, making an access cover so you could get to the pump without dropping the tank.

Right. I figured that this website seems to be pretty much devoted to the MK3, so I thought I didn't really need to specify that. I stand corrected.

Many people have problems with the speedo cable, seems like a factory flaw.

not quite. all parts wear out over time. fwiw my 86.5's speedo cable has never been changed and works flawlessly to this day.

itll probably break tomorrow though having said that.

Dont like the way toyota routed the intake/intercooler piping. such a PITA to do spark plugs, and also putting the coil packs on top of the spark plugs. besides the HG i really dont have much to complain about everything else is just wear and tear over 15yrs and lack of funding.
