Yup, it appears that the factory includedc feature in the GTR, Lauch Control, is not to actually be used because if you do and you have any problems with your tranny you can expect to pay the $20K bill for a new tranny yourself.

Seriously, why offer this feature if your not supposed to use the feature.

It appears the new GTR has a sub-supercar transmission.

Pretty sad start for the car don't you think?

Sounds like what they did with the focus STV that came "ready for NOS" but if you hook it up buy, buy.

As for the GTR and lauch control, that is fucked up, don't install it then NISSAN if we cant use it!!!

Thinking about it, this is almost as bad as my V. Give it the right foot and it has crazzy wheel hop (bushings are way to soft) and when you destroy the rear end Cadillac trys not to warrenty it saying that it is "owner abuse", witch it is sort-of, but then why even put a 400 hp motor in a car then? BTW the wheel hop is now fix in the 2nd gen V.

This shows you that the GTR isn't the greatest thing in the world for it's price. A fast car that isn't reliable really isn't a "fast" car to me, because sooner or later it won't be running :)

On top of that if you don't have the oil changed by the dealer using MOBIL 1 that will void the warranty too. So Hello $100.00+ oil changes.

Can't do that because of a court case YEARS ago. It's why there are independant shops that do service.

My personal opinion on the GTR's LC is that it's NOT in the manual on how to use it as it's a hidden feature. Much like Ferrari did with their transmission...

Without LC, the GTR is not that fast...

I was reading that the transmission deaths are related to overheating, which the LC probably encourages. Some dude on SF was saying that just driving his GTR around town caused transmission tempratures to reach dangerous levels. Nissan's response was "don't drive it excessively"

And of course, one can also note that Nissan has ceased all orders of the GT-R until further notice.

It would seem Porsche hasn't got much to worry about: although the GT-R may be faster than it's target rival, the 911, atleast the 911 will make it around the Nurburgring for a second lap. The GT-R will be in the pits 'cooling off', as instructed by the manufacturer.

The porsche version of launch control also monitors the running temps and prevents you from activating it until the temps are back down to levels that are acceptable. So basically they also include the feature but unlike nissan they know people will use it and have designed it NOT to have a determental effect on the vehicle.

For the 20k a new GTR tranny is going to cost you, which is likely to fail just as easily you can get the porsche instead. Interesting.

Transmission isn't too terrible 32000-JF00A $13581.63
Engine is a bit on the high side. 10001-JF0HM $29680.56

The nissan dealership I work at will void warranty if the GTR isn't serviced there. They explain everything to the customer before, during, and after the purchase of the car and make the customer sign on agreement stating that he/she agree's to yada yada and all that garbage about the car services, warranty, and what not.

Nissan has a Tendancy to do as they wish with things. Believe me when I say this even if they took their GTR to an independent shop and had paper work stating the vehicle was serviced with recomended oil. Nissan will find a way around it.

Of course! But of course when you have the money lying around to buy one of these things anyhow of course you're gonna have your services done at the dealer.

Personally, if I had the money to buy it I'd tell them to go fuck themselves and walk out.

I WON'T sign my rights away to the warranty of the car as I have the law on my side on what can be done to the car.

I wish I could remember the name of that court case...
