oh god......

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....tell me that wasnt a BRAND NEW MHG?

youre NOT SUPPOSED TO SPRAY THAT GOD DAMN PERMATEX OR ANYTHING ELSE ON A BRAND NEW MHG... it has its own coating to seal with for first use....

:nono:

Also did you happen to remember to put FIPG on the two spots on the front timing cover that you are supposed to? People tend to forget that.

If you are using a brand new mhg it comes with a sealant coating on it already. You are not supposed to apply anything to it.

Hmmmm im pretty sure the Greddys have the coating also... was it black or silver in color? hopefully youll be ok...but ive found that applying that permatex crap to new mhgs causes nothing but problems.

i knew that about the MHG (the viton coating), i was asking about the part in bold...
"Also did you happen to remember to put FIPG on the two spots on the front timing cover that you are supposed to? People tend to forget that."
are those just the 2 gaskets that go between the timing cover and the block?

sry for the hijack, looks like its coming along nicely, wish i had my supra when i was in school. if possible could you just take a lot of pics of the rest of your progress, i didnt label a lot of my bolts... DOH!

If it was silver you should ok. And it causes problems when theres too much of that permatex crap on it and it likes to clog coolant passages.

You should be ok though.
