Grab a straight edge and lay it across the deck/cover and see if you can see light under it.

Better to catch it now than in 2 weeks after it's done when it leaks and you have to redo the entire motor.

its ok...not the end of the world and can be corrected. as IJ said better to catch it now then when you start the car and have coolant leaking from the head/block mating surface lol.

lol see i don't really have a problem with the mistake i made...its just this damn time limit i have is killing me. and i have to take off the shit that i've already just put on. i wish i had my own personal shop area to do this!

now what if i was just shave the cover down so it's alittle below the deck?
would i have to worry about it then?

alright i didn't take pictures today because my batteries are dead in my camera. so, the difference between the timing cover and the block about .019". so i took off the cover and everything and LUCKILY we have a machining shop class in the school, so i told them what i needed and it's done, but i can't see it 'til monday. =0( which sucks! i did start to take apart the head. took all the valves out and whatnot and cleaned off most of the gasket shit. i'm gonna call around and see how much it'll run me to get that machined.

i will post more pics of the progress i have though up until today!
