I'm gonna have to disagree, I couldn't get my rings seated until I started driving it hard. Take out your wastegate spring or anyway to stay out of boost, go out and drive it hard (obviously not bouncing off the limiter everywhere you go but don't be easy on it).

You can start the car with some accessories off, you have to check for leaks and problems first anyways. (So if any accessory you haven't put on has a possibility to leak I'd suggest putting it on).

Your getting the wrong idea. Yes driving up hills and dropping the car to a lower gear pulling as much vacuum as possible is a good way to help seat the rings but it can take more than that, also my experiences are with chromium rings and in my case, needed more "racer boy" driving as you like to call it. Your are more likely to glaze the bore driving it easy if the rings are not seating.

ok i started by jackin up the supra for better accessibility of the gas tank

disconnected the fuel lines/hoses

started the draining process...shit was pretty nasty

while it was draining, i decided to go ahead and make my USDM TB all nice and painted :naughty:

this is the gasket that i have doesn't seem to be correct??

i was gonna bolt it on anyway, but i noticed that this bolt hole was stripped:cry:

ok. i dropped the gas tank

haha put it on the creeper for easy mobility =0)

i started removing the fuel pump cause i need to install the walbro one and found this shit :aigo:

anyways...i started the process of installing the walbro pump. it looks nice :love:

other things that i did...

screwed in the wideband o2 sensor

found and installed the other part for the power steering pump adjuster...also painted it :evil2:

my questions are....
if was just to install the new pump with out doing the relay mod, would i just leave it be and just install it? i'm still thinking about doing that mod, but i'm just curious....

and of course...the gas tank is disgusting. no one seems to make an aftermarket OEM tank, so i'm gonna have either clean it myself the best i can or get it professionally done and re-lined for like a $140 bucks:aigo:

but the sooner i get the tank done, the closer i will be...

Yep, that's where it goes.

Also, don't bother looking for an aftermarket tank, even if you find one you'll hate installing it. It's a major complaint with musclecars as they have a strap setup like ours and aftermarket tanks are never quite made the same as the OEM...

for the price of getting it cleaned and relined (the tank, that is), I'd see if I couldn't pick up a fuel cell off of ebay (or elsewhere)...

...just a thought.
