I see you need a timing belt - I've got a brand new spare I can send you :D I've got an '88 Auto harness in pretty decent condition, I'd be willing to R&R in my spare time and send you with whatever pigtails added you need! (MAP + IAT hookups for SD system, for instance)

I'd damn sure be down with helping tune the beast, too. Personally, that's my favorite part ;)

What 'little' parts do you need? I seriously have tons of extra parts sitting around.

Hey Bud, thanks for your help!

The timing belt will be a must, the one on there now is really bad.

The wire harness is a disaster. I will prob lean to a AEM EMS and will use a GM 5 bar map sensor and the IAT. Sean sent us a GT4088 joural bearing garrett with a garrett .72 comp., and a .81 turbine. As the turbo man, how do you feel about this turbo.

Hell yea. If you plan on hardcore drag racing it, though, I'd go with a small shot of nitrous with it (50-75 shot) just because of the .81 turbine.

OR - build the motor to spin 8000rpm ;)

I can set you up with a stock harness, and if you can give me an idea of how long you need the MAP and IAT pigtails, wire them to the appropriate spots (assuming you use the PnP AEM for the harness ;))

The 87 harness would be just fine. I have not heard any real issues or differences between the early and late model part numbers of the AEM. The MAP would be mounted near the rear of the intake manifold. The IAT may at first be mounted in the charge pipe just over the plug wires. Later, if a FFIM is added, it would be mounted near the factory battery location. Hope this helps.

On a side note, I may have to enter the wire loom in the car now in a "worst condition and car still runs" wire harness contest. The entire loom above the turbo elbow is melted into one solid mass down to many visible bare wires.

Rich: I have stock springs from a 87 supra non turbo. Do you need them?

I can ship them out for you tommarow.

Also: Not sure if you have ANY use for these but i have pre 89 tails.

Alright Rich. I'll pull the harness out of the box tonight, and shoot off some pics.

Tell you what, I'll do you even a step better - I'll build the MAP to the rear of the intake manifold, and for the IAT (so you can move it around) I'll build a 'jumper' harness, so you can always lengthen or shorten the wires as needed ;)

Rich, In retrospect I think I would have been better off going with a universal AEM vs a 2jz AEM for my 2j swap.

For example, I had to wire in an ignitor between the C2DI and the AEM because it didnt recognize the signal.

There were a few other little things and it may not be what you want to do, but you may want to consider going with a universal box and custom harness.

Yes - We need springs. The eibachs that are on there now had been cut down an additional 1.5 inches by the previous owner.

Doward - That would be perfect!

P5150 - I had thought of that once myself, but for some reason the universal is a wee bit more money than the 87-88 unit. I can get a new 87-88 unit for around 1100.00
Another member has mentioned that he maybe able to get a new MAP-ECU Gen II donated for free. So we may look at that also if it can happen. I am not real familiar with the MAP-ECU GEN II however.

Seth - Thank you, I was planning on running the stock set up for starters, but I would definatly take a FFIM if you are willing to build one. I would just plan on building the inteercoolerpiping and intecooler differently. The lack of funding was going to make me use a stock manifold. How much money in materials do you think?

Superhero - yes! a gt40! I am hoping for 9 second passes right out of box with this guy and a little shot of funny gas.

You have a FFIM lined up for this yet? I did not go through it all but I will build one if someone will pay for the materials!

Seth

Maybe we can get few guys to kick in a little to get this done.. How much for materials? I would be in to see this get off the ground.:icon_bigg John

John - Seth told me in a PM. I don't want to make his cost public, but it is so reasonable that I will hand over the cost myself if we can't pool the funds together.

Actually, he just pm'd me to go ahead and post the amount.

it is 200.00 plus the core. So that is what we are looking at. I have several cores laying around, so we are good there.
