Went to a little local gun show today with MAYBE 20 vendors, and I found a gem in the rough.

A 1944 Russian Mosin Nagant Carbine (M44). New, cosmolined, never issued.

Ready?

Ready?

$90 out the door.

damn good deal if you ask me....I would've went but had to move some stuff around for the new couch to come in, plus if I would've went, I would've bought something and need all my money for a motor.

You can do neat things with a Mosin Nagant.

Cheaper Than Dirt has a lot of parts and upgrades for those.

As nice as this one is Mike, I almost want to trade it off for one of the 91/30's (long barrell) that needs a little work rather than destroy/sporterize this one....

My ultimate goal is to have a high power long range tack driver that I can go play 200yd card games with. :)

So here is my latest acquisition. S&W MP40. 3(15+1) clips and Trijicon night sights.

Just got back from the gun show with this:

img_PA_m9093.jpg

The Kahr MK9

I was really tempted by Jon's tritium sighted K9, but once I had the chance to compare the mk9 and k9 side by side and slip both into my pocket, the decision was made. I traded off the Kel Tec and (suprisingly little :) ) cash and am now done buying guns for a good long while!

Sorry Jon... :(

When it came right down to it, I really value having the ability to choose between IWB and pocket carry and the small dimensional differences between the K9 and MK9 were enough to convince me to go as small as possible. As it is, I was planning on buying a PM9 for weight, but decided on the MK because I got a deal I walked away happy with.

I've been watching gunbroker.com, and from what I can see you should be able to clear a nice profit on yours. :)

OWB Holster Suggestions Needed!

I've got pocket and IWB holsters for my new MK9, but I want an OWB holster too. I'm looking for something comfortable, and most importantly as concealable as possible, all while keeping within a reasonable price.

So I'm thinking Kydex paddle holster. Sound right, or is anybody absolutely sold on something else (pancake, etc)?

+1 for Galco. I carry my Glocks in their 'quick slide' belt holsters. I prefer belt holsters vs paddle, so it works for me - any of their products is A+, though.

I finally took my Kahr to the range yesterday and OMG!

It's like this gun was custom made for me. It fits my hand perfectly, easy to point, and feels solidly steady in my hand with a very smooth and predictable trigger pull. Overall I was able to shoot much better groups than I did with my full sized Cougar 8000. And all of that's in addition to the fact that it is freakishly easy and comfortable to conceal/carry.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I was this happy with a purchase on anything. If you've never picked up a Kahr before, be sure to try one if you ever get the chance. :bigthumb:

Here is me with my first firearm:
k3142du9.jpg

Its a Swiss Karabiner Model 1931, walnut stocked. I wanted one before they became hard to find.
Unfortunately the ammo's on the pricey side. I need to get something in 22lr. I was thinking either a 10/22 or build an AR in that caliber.

Old joke, but still a good one...especially considering the current political situation:

Are you a Democrat, Republican, or Southerner?
Here is a little test that will help you decide. The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.

Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.

You are carrying a Glock 40 cal., and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?
.........................................................

Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted ?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus.

...............................................
Republican's Answer:
BANG!
..............................................

Southerner's Answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click..... (Sounds of reloading)
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click
Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or the Hollow Points?"
Son: "Can I shoot the next one!"
Wife: "You ain't taking that to the Taxidermist! "
