91T breezen' please don't PM me trying to preach to me about YOUR God. I do not care for him.

I believe things from different religions ie Wiccan and Satanism. I do not believe in ANY one religion. I do however believe more in Satanism. I will not discuss what it is because it will only offend people and start a flame war.

You know, you'd be far more well-received if you didn't peddle your god crap all the freaking time.

This thread would not have gone the direction it did if it weren't for Post #3. There would be no reason to try to defend christianity if people would respect others beliefs. I'm sure if someone started bashing those star trek fairy tale internet costume balls you love so much; you wouldn't be silent.

It is most decidedly a Christian thing. I don't believe in your god, nor do I believe in his opposite. This also includes angels, and all the other nonsense you superstitious folks buy into.

As it says in my signature, I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

That goes for his opposing number as well...

I'm sure there are many christians that are reading this and simply staying out of it. It's really not worth arguing over, we'll all find out when we pass... If it comforts you to believe thats great, if not then don't... I know what I believe and I don't need to prove anything to anyone.

SC, this is not directed at you. You have been up front with what you believe, but have not condemned me for my beliefs.

I am truly tired of this. I don't understand why people find it necessary to have Christain bashing parties. My beliefs are mine. If you would like to hear what they are, I would love to have the chance to share with you how good God has been to me. If you don't want to here them then that is fine too. God gave us free will, and you are free to use yours. Jay is right I really do not like to get into these threads, but I also hate to sit back and not say anything when my beleifs are being attacked.

It's funny to me how non-Christains love to throw the short comings of Christains up to disprove Christainity. No man is without sin. Jesus said "Let him that is without sin cast the first stone." I'm not judging you, so stop judging me. You sit back and wait on someone to fall so you can say "See they don't have it figured out." If you do something wrong (sin). That is between you and God to work out. I don't redicule you for it nor do I condemn you for it.

You judge a group of people by the actions of a few. Do I say "that non-Christain killed somebody so they are all murders". No that would be ignorant of me to think that way.

The church I attend does alot of charity work for the community I live in. We have a food bank, and clothes closet that turns nobody away that is in need. We feed the children that come on the van dinner every Wednesday night and breakfast every Sunday morning. We have a fall festival every year that is free to the community. At Christmas we do shoe boxes gifts for the kids. When school starts back we give away school supplies at the food bank. We are a small community church. How can you have contempt for a people that are trying to help others?

Wait, so you haven't killed anyone? :sarcasm:

Besides, I consider myself more of a Pagan. You know - the religion that Christians steal all their holidays from.

Pagan is almost the same thing as Wiccan if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I read the books and stuff.

This thread is entertaining.....I'm not so sure as what I believe, this is one of those subjects I don't really have an opinion on as of now. I do believe there is a higher power, but don't like the idea that the bible was approved by a king of the past. I know there are missing books of the bible and have always wondered what those books tell. I believe that if there is a Heaven, then God would allow those in that are generally "good" people....those that don't steal, murder, or do things that are wrong. And everyone has a good idea of what "wrong" is.

Something that irritates me is the "rules" that are placed on religious crowd. Using curse words like fuck, shit, cunt, cock, pussy, etc., are considered to be a sin, yet those are words that society has labeled a sin, not the bible or God. Drinking alcohol in some religions is considered a sin...even if it's just a social drink. I'm just confused on what true Christianity is, and until I find out the truth, I choose to wait before joining a religion.

Well last time you defended Satanism, it was very lame and all of your interpretations and beliefs were taken pretty far out of context of what was actually written.

So yeah, let's not get into that again.

Wow look what I started . I am glad that people are talking about this. I agree with boths "sides" in this little farcus . I am a Christian . I have a best friend that is gay . I met him and made friends with him before I knew he was gay. Now before this happened I was homophobic. I Belive that My god put this man in my life in such a way that I was able to learn "TOLERENCE" and "ACCEPTANCE" of him as a person. I hate the sin not the sinner. Far to many christians cannot make that distinction . All the jerry falwell type's are doing nothing but cementing peoples negative opinions . I try to live my life as Jesus would . But I fail on a daily basis . DT,SC, and ONEJOE I am glad you shared your opinions with me . I would hope that you would change your minds . BUT I respect your right to make up your OWN mind . I have no right to force my religion into your lives or homes . This is a personal thing that remains in my home. I " preach" by the way I live my life. I belive in Attraction not Promotion . If you like my life ask me how I got it . If not that that is truly fine with me. And I will not breach that boundry

Dinosaurs. Ice Age. Evolution. KTHXBYE.

I don't understand how you can say we had irrefutable proof the world was flat, seeing as no one had ever tried to circumnavigate the globe until we knew it was round. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about that physics bit either, unless you're talking about way back when the Greeks and Romans were around, but even then they knew that they didn't know everything.

Early 1900s. Before the advent of Quantum Physics, there was Classical Physics. In the early 1900s, it was said that "physics is a dead subject - we know all there is to know about physics!"

Einstein and crew shot that down, when Quantum Mechanics were introduced.

My only point, is that at ANY given point in time, history has shown that people thought what they thought, and accepted it as 'truth' - and history shows also, that almost every 'truth' has been proven false, with a new 'truth'. I have no doubts that many of our 'truths' will be proven false, in the future.

As for the religion thing. For fuck's sake, believe whatever makes you happy.

Read this CAREFULLY:

THE ENTIRE POINT OF FAITH IS TO ELICIT PEACE AND HAPPINESS WITHIN YOURSELF

by whatever means you find necessary. Quit bitching that someone believes in Satan, or God, or Allah, or the Easter Bunny, or the fucking Cookie Monster.

These are all abstract creations, developed so that we have material means to show our FAITH.

If ANY of you truly has faith, you will realize the physical manifestations of your faith are IMPERFECT AT BEST. Faith comes from within. From YOUR personal belief in God, or Cookie Monster.

It's a PERSONAL belief - NOBODY can take that from you, IF you truly believe as you claim! Instead, some of you jump to Christianity because your friends do. Some of you join a cult to 'belong' (and trust me, the church is nothing more than a large cult) You who do not truly believe your beliefs are a bunch of fucking sheep, imho, beating the drum of another, in the pathetic hopes to fit in.

:3d_frown:

Religion will never be perfect, if only because people are a part of it.

Why do you hope we change our minds?

See, this is the very problem I have with debating religion with people. You are assuming that your beliefs are the correct ones. Therefore, you may accept that I do not believe what you believe but since you are stuck in your ways that you have the correct set of beliefs, you will hope that I will eventually "see the light" or whatever you wish to call it.

I refuse to continue debating with people that cannot differentiate between fact, truth, faith, belief, and knowledge.

Umm why would I belive something that I though was incorrect . That is the most illogical statement of this entire thread . Of course I assume that my beliefs are the "right" ones why else would I belive them? Ergo If I belive I am right ..why wouldn't I want to share it with everyone? If I belived that you where stuck eating bland food and I had something that I thought tasted better would you hate me because I asked you if you would like to try it? What if when you said no I said that I hoped that you would change your mind ? What I dont understand Joe is what is YOUR problem with this ? Why so hateful?I understand SC and DT's points but you just seem to be parroting someone elses agenda . Bitching for that sake of bitching and judging from a years worth of posts that seems to be your M.O.

Exactly. I'm glad you agree. You are insistant that you have the correct set of beliefs and faith. Anything else must be illogical and wrong.

I can play that game too.

I don't believe what you believe. My faith is right.

I hope you change your mind about your's.

You see the problem? I'll say it again if you missed it the first time.

I refuse to debate with people that cannot differentiate between fact, truth, faith, belief, and knowledge. To you, all these words seem to be synonymous when they really are not.

For you to think your faith is the absolute truth and fact is incredibly arrogant. All logical debate stops once you assume this about your own faith. I'm glad you admit to following this path. Maybe you should refer to Doward's post above.

BTW, you don't even know my stance on God and religion. I've yet to even say it.

There IS TOO!

THERE IS NOT!

Carry on to infinity.

Everyone needs to just agree to disagree, otherwise this will go on and on and on and on...
But, while I'm here;)
I believe in a higher power, an almighty. It brings me comfort.
I don't like to go to big churches because of the people. It's always a gossip fest and a place for people to show off their "status". I prefer small congregations who are actually there to worship.
I don't like televangelist telling me I'm going to burn in Hell for not going to church every Sunday. How the hell do they know???
The only time I like to be preached to is when I ask for it, otherwise shut up.

What I do care about is your seeming need to legislate your religion into the lives of people who don't share you beliefs. The ire is not directed at your silly god, nor any of your beliefs. It is directed at your repeated and insistent attempts to make your religion the law of the land.

The hostility is not directed at your religion, it's directed at your actions & words, not your god.

I had a T-shirt years ago that summed it up rather nicely; "Jesus is just alright with me! (But his fan club scares the shit out of me...)

Teach your kids, teach your family, stand on your pulpit and preach. Just leave me the right to do the same for mine. When muslims try to make religion the law, you folks get 101 different kinds of upset, but then you go off and do the same. Can you be shallow enough to not see that? I think not.

That's a fair statement with the exception to the "silly God" reference.
Now can this stop?

NOOOOOPE, can't stop the failtrain....

Laugh people....

OneJoeZee: It's a belief for a reason. I believe the sky is blue and will argue with someone that it is blue. So, if that person is color blind and can't see blue, who is right?

If I tell someone about the Gospel and they deny me, it is THEIR CHOICE. I cannot take that away, it was given by God. They can always return, even if they fall away from the faith.

We are the most POWERFUL and UNIQUE creatures ever created that we know of. We have a sense of self and the ability to ponder these issues about our existance. That in itself is AMAZING. I have to agree with the end of thet zeitgiest movie... You can spend your entire life trying to become something, but you are already a MIRACLE.

Your single life will literally change thousands of others over your lifetime. You are unique in every aspect of the word.

Just the simple fact that we can have a discussion about things far larger than ourselves, be it God or the universe is amazing. Don't ever forget that...
