This is related, but unrelated to the bickering here.
One of the cult members I work with was telling me about how there are scientists who are on to finding the gene that links us all to Adam, and this somehow proves that the bible is true.
If that were true..
..and the bible was fact..
WHY would you want to prove something like that?! It's horseshit - doesn't turning a faith system into a fact system defeat the point?!
Scenario: Irrefutable truth is revealed to me that shows, without a doubt, that Jesus is lord and savior. What I mean by "irrefutable truth" is not the same as what you religious types feel in your heart for your lord; that is faith.
What I am talking about is something that can be shown and logically explained, not something that is simply felt in your heart - once again, just for clarification, what I am talking about is FACT - NOT FAITH!
Now, armed with fact, I die and show up at the pearly gates. Because I know that this is fact, that it is true, am I allowed in? Am I rejected because I had knowledge of the truth of god, but never blind faith?
I'm sorry, but I don't see my name on St. Peter's VIP list to get in the club.
..so what happens IF said proof, this "irrefutable truth" is found? Is it Armageddon time? Is it going to be "Screw you guys - you were good people in life, but you didn't make the cut"?
"It's a quandary that's perplexing me."
On a side note - is it ironic that the spell/grammar check points to Armageddon as being incorrect if it does not start with a capital letter, but god is not? Maybe it's noun vs. name vs. event name, but I thought it to be funny.
