To use my Supra as an example, this is what most of you think is clean (including myself over a year ago).

And this is what is actually elite (see the January 2011 issue of Import Tuner, page 17).

Elite doesn't mean that you've given your engine bay a bath, elite means that you've cleaned up the engine bay to really make it look better. And just because your Supra has 500+ RWHP doesn't mean the engine bay is elite. Power means nothing when it comes to elite engine bays if your engine bay is a mess. I've seen plenty of 700+ RWHP Supra engine bays that were nowhere near elite. Notice the before and after shots I posted of my engine bay? That's what I'm talking about.

For more examples of elite engine bays see UpgradedSupra and JT2MA71's engine bays.

Maybe I'm just a harsh critic, but the engine bay you posted is ok, but not elite. Too much clutter (wires, harness's, hoses) for my taste. I've spent countless hours relocating electronics and other components to clean up the engine bay. When I work on my engine I'm constantly looking for unused parts that can be removed (brackets, wires, hard vacuum line to nowhere, etc...). I spent probably 10+ hours relocating my fuse box to its current location. You'd be amazed at how much work I still want to do to my engine bay to clean it up even more. Hell, I spent $100 just to replace my valve cover vent tube to make it look better (the shot in my sig is out of date, I need to take a new picture when I get my Supra back from the shop).

Ok. I just thought mine was done neatly. Nothing was out of place, new harness, so if it was referring to my post, let me know.

I think you are. In fact his engine bay is not only clean, but it's an obviously modified engine with top quality assembly and very nice braided hose work.

Put side by side, I find his more appealing. It's certainly not "stock" looking and would qualify in my book.

Honest your correct to a degree in what you are saying and I feel the same way, I spent tons of time so that I could get into this thread as well and I feel like more can always be done.

I kinda agree with abe. Iboughtasupra's car is plenty clean to be in this thread however these two cars do not belong.
These were on the previous page. I think that a aftermarket ic piping kit or a few cans of spray paint in no way make your car elite.

And here's one I took of my car a little while ago.

You would be suprised how easy that 7M is to work on and how many vacuum lines were removed. That car was sold last Summer.

Second, the braided hose you see running across the valve covers was done so I don't have a old style gates hose just looking out of place.

That braided hose cost me 120, yes, just that one hose.

If that is not elite to you, don't worry, I am doing a 1J at the moment and you will consider that one to fit in here....I choose not to do sloppy work but neat and respectable. It is your opinion to not consider my engine bay "elite," but I know my next post in here will be among the top.

People who see that car that I built refer to it when speaking about it as "Andy's old car," even when the new owner is standing right there. I take pride in my work and I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Gurley, I hate body filler so what you did, I took it one step further and bronzed every single unused hole to minimize the amount of filler that will be used in my bay. That is why if you look at my bay right now for the 1J, it is all burnt up. Soon to be fixed when we get a decent weather day up here in NY....
