Lol, you say that but if the guy had choked on one of his free chicken nuggets he could've sued me and probably won. It's the American way ;)

You're certainly right in that there isn't enough common courtesy these days, at least not here. I'm amazed at how courteous some other cultures are compared to the US. Russia and Ukraine for example. I've yet to witness an example of road rage in spite of seeing things that'd probably result in gunfire over here. Course, 70 years of not knowing who was KGB might have something to do with that ;)

I was just pleased to see this guy do it when so few others don't. That he was young and driving a Supra was simply more frosting on the cake.

Well.. i usually turn my lights off because they shine off the back of the other car and annoy me. you know how it is with shiny things and people who visit the drive thru real late at night ;)

haha...as the guy who works the back window at the Wendy's here 10 hours a day, I can say that what you describe is indeed VERY rare. While I have had a couple people pay for the car behind them, it's not everyday that somebody has the common courtesy to do what you or the one behind you did. Believe me when I say that I deal with countless people who run thier diesel trucks at the speaker, try and pay for a $1 burger with a hundred, flash their brights or just keep 'em on, peel rubber, blare music, etc...etc...It's just a nice break when somebody who actually gives a damn about other people comes through.

I know i'm not supposed to, but I usually give somebody a discount if they are polite and aware of other people's feelings...but then again I'm just a nice guy all around, letting people go ahead of me at a stop sign, giving them room to switch lanes, and overall just being a nice driver. It got me out of a ticket one day because about a week prior to that I had let the cop and his family switch lanes so they could grab some grub without turning around.

As a fast food employee, I respect you JJ...if you were to come through my drivethrough, your meal would be free. Then you'd have to help me with all my supra problems ;)

Lol, from the horse's mouth. You da man. I'll bet in Wyoming you guys are a lot more polite than the folks at the windows I have to deal with, another pet peeve of mine. Assuming they even speak English they're usually gruff and silent, shoving the food at me without thanks. That's assuming they even get the order right in the first place. I once found a KFC where everyone was so polite that after a few visits I went in and told the manager what a pleasure it was. Again, a rare thing to find. I'll give credit where it's due though: At least they're working instead of robbing 7-11s. And you know, all this remind me I really need to improve my diet ;)

Part of it's the management team...and part of it's just me I guess. I take pride in my work, mostly because I'm reminded of what it got me every time I look out the window at my car, and I just think without the customers I wouldn't have that. So I'm just returning the favor, so to speak.

I work with some pretty crabby people sometimes, especially with the night shift, but most of them find something worse to do with their lives and move on. I've only been there for 6 months and have already seen nearly 3 complete crew changes...makes me feel like an old timer!

It's just nice to get a break from billy bob and his jacked up rustbucket and have a more civil, respectfull customer once in a while...like I said I don't mind giving out a discount or two to those that deserve it, because courtesy is becoming rarer and rarer nowadays...especially with all these filthy rich oilfield guys moving in :icon_mad:

I turn off my headlights when they aren't needed (Including in the drive-thru) really only because I think the Supra looks way more sleek and cool with them off. But I guess that is an added benefit of doing this. That is really cool what you did too. props.

JJ: I applaud the common courtesy you have.
I, too, will instill that method of turning off my lights. I suppose I've never noticed it before, that and I don't happen to go to them all the time.
We'll see how this works.

In the meantime, you keep doing what you're doing and sharing good ideas like this with us. You have to spread the good ideas somehow. Why not with the Supra brethren? lol.

As with many other people I will be carrying this tradition. I turn them off when they are annoying or not needed. I never really thought about other people at the drive thru(selfishness).

Cool man

I go the extra mile to retract the lights but turn the running lights back on...like I said...I think the Supra looks wicked like that.

JetJock, what would a guy have to do to get some free 20w50? :icon_bigg

You deffinitley don't seem like the ass that I thought you were from our first "encounter", lol. I would imagine being a half-way nice driver in CA would be rough. Hell in the small city I drive in NO ONE will let you out, you just have to look for an opening that your can can fit into and go. Even when you let people out, they most of the time are too busy talking on their cell phones to wave, or even nod, to you. THAT is what pisses me off. People just don't acknoweledge that you went out of your way (so to speak) to help them out, but the don't admit it to themselves. You let THEM out, because they are just so awesome, or whatever. It's like the tractors and what not traveling down the back roads on my way to work/school, Some of them will pull over and let you by, others don't.

The world suxorz the big one. It looks like Supras are giving us yet another reason not to call it quits. +1 to you Jetjock, +1.

Heh, don't underestimate me...I can be a real ass when needed. It's not my normal buzz though. I even had to go back and find the "encounter" you're referring to. I was just messin' with you a bit. That's the problem with text: it doesn't convey emotional intent very well. But thanks and it's good to know you're standing out from the masses. It takes a rare perspective to refrain from lowering oneself to their level. Btw, I still wouldn't be running 20-50 in that car ;)

I already sold the car... :icon_conf
So I kinda don't have to worry about whether or not it is a good or a bad idea.
Do you approve 10w40? :dunno:

10-40 is archaic but still popular among those who don't understand oil, which is just about everyone, but it's ok. Depends on the climate, base stock, add pack, and a few other things. The trend is towards thinner oils these days. If you stick with what the owner's manual recommends for the temps you're operating in you won't go wrong. That said, there has been tremendous advances in oils since the Supra was made and they need to be considered. I'd still run a syn in a turbo car but it doesn't have to be a Group 4 or 5. M1 is fine but RL, RP, and all those other boutiqe 4 or 5s are a total waste of money unless the OCI's are extended. Fwiw I haven't run automotive oils for years. I run diesel truck oils while using bypass filtration and do oil analysis. I prefer driving my cars over working on them.
