Civics might not be able to, but there was a mustang back in 01 or '02 that had doors like this (before the koengisegg was out). It wasn't one fluid motion like the koenigsegg's, but the overall action was the same. The doors were pushed out from the body, then rotated up. I'll see if i can find the article.

Man you guys act like we are only allowed to race these cars, and not just enjoy them. Not everyone in the world cares about saving 50 lbs. Where does it stop? Why not just roll around with out power steering + ABS + Airbags + Speakers + targa + a stereo ect...

This is a damn GT car, if you wanted a super light weight car get some stripped piece of trash that the interior bends when you touch it. Not everyone is all gung ho for having a completely stock MKIII besides performance mods.

But to the original poster, you can't really be upset at them. You asked what they thought, and they gave you their honest answers even if some posts were childish.
SoD: If he'd just gone off quietly and even just mocked it up to see if it would work and posted a thread "this is my idea" the reactions would have been very different.

People talk shit here all the time about the amazing things they're going to do and they seldom end up in reality.

Take Tek's wide body as an example

As he described/explained it I thought "YUK how horrible" but the reality is brilliant as he actually got off his arse and did it.

Cliffs: too many shit talkers with big ideas that end in nothing.

I think the supra looks nice with the lambo doors since the doors are long. Other cars the doors are short in length and just looks funny. But I'd rather put my money into performance mods than that.

People still gave honest answers you should take into consideration like door weight, leak problems and stuff but if you can handle it then why not?

If you like it go with it, not everyone's car should look the same.

I have personally done suicide doors on 95 honda accord two door and it looked pretty sick after it was done. i agree though lambo door would look good if they are done right. no matter what you do there will always be haters. whatever you do, do it right and dont half ass it!!!

The Supra doors are so long you'd have to take extreme caution when getting in and out of the car when parked at the airport - for fear of hitting one of the planes on approach.

I think suicide doors would look silly on a Mk3. However I still like the look of Mk3's with scissor doors. It's just unfortunate that the coolness factor gets overlooked by the fact that lambo doors have been played out by too many hondas, etc.

Who cares what "other people" think. Most are fos anyway.

The MKIII is one of the few cars that really looks great with the "Lambo" door mod. As for practicality, I can't say, don't have them and don't know anyone who does.

The opening and closing doesn't bother me, but wind leaks would. I don't see why they would leak if they were properly installed.

Maybe someone who has done them can explain, but it seems to me that the door either sits in it's opening properly (and won't leak), or it doesn't (and will leak), depending on the thoroughness and the craftsmanship of the person who does the mod.

No magic involved here.

I think sliding doors like and a minivan would be good. I hate it when somone parks close to me and I have to struggle to get in my car.

That is fuckin sweet!
As for lambo doors mhh, I dont like the angle they just seem weird at a tilt. Now the CCX doors, straight up and down, thats hot.

I have a friend who has lambo doors on his S2K there cool looking but a gigantic PAIN IN THE ASS since his doors are kinda short and seats sit far forward. With the doors on the A70 I think it could work quite well. Especially from the pics of them I think it would look awesome. Also ive got a 1929 Model A ford with suicide doors. Awesomeness on classic not on new.....................

A guy I know has lambo doors on his Del Sol he just got. I rode in it, and it took us like 3 minutes to figure out how to shut those fuckers. They don't look very good no matter what car they're on, and as for functionality... 1%, maybe.:3d_frown:
