we prolly wont be messing with the EFI switch sence the car will run like shit for like 5min on start because its relearning your driving habits. I'm going to try and do something with the starter or where the alarm turns the car off(hook in with the stock system).

I highly doubt thats true. As I said before, I disconnect my battery every time I drive it...meaning I reset the ECU each time as well. When I start her up, it only takes a minute tops and doesnt run real shitty, just not as good as it usually does.

the battery if im not mistaken only resets so much, still i dont want to mess with my ecu, if u catch wat i mean, electronical messing around can screw up a car, so im leaning more to something thats not that important.
ne1 have any suggestions?

man sorry to hear about your car, if i was in your area id be sitting on the side of the road with you, shotgun in hand waiting for those fuckers to show up. Ive got an imobilizer (sp) and a pager alarm with imobilizer. it will stop the joy riders, and the punk kids who want my deck, but if someone wants the car bad enough, they will get it. I live in the car theft capital of north america, there is a demand for every car, ive been broken into 3 or 4 times in the year and a half that ive owned the car, ive onyl had 1 deck stolen, and it was sitting on my back seat, no yet installed, but, knock on wood, they havent got anything of mine yet. as for a kill switch, i think the fuel pump would be best, and maybe a theft will be looking for a kill switch, so put it right where they can see it. how many of you actually use your passanger window lock out???? just rewire that. ;)

Yes, and how many people would notice an extra defrost/foglight switch either? :icon_wink

Sorry to hear about your car. Theives are the worst!!!
We should tie 'em to the nearest light post and cane 'em to death,..one example would go a long way!

On the kill switch, I like the idea of hooking up tothe neutral safety switch. That way it doesn't waste your starter.

Good luck with the repairs

P. S. I would suggest swapping out all of your fluids, i.e. gas, oil, brake, etc,.. as there is no way of telling what they could have done!

Two things:

1. Where bouts would you tap into the fuel pump wires near the front of the car?, The neutral safety switch is a better idea but only for Auto's.

2. If you do tap into the fuel pump you are going to have to wait until the turbo timers switches the car off before you activate it right?? So taping into the starter motor would be the best idea right??? Man im confused right now?

3. if im right bout the starter motor, where would you tap into it?

Woops thats 3 things

Interesting, i had some lady on ebay from eugene, or about 2.5 years ago rip me off for 220 dollars. Granted, 220 dollars isn't too bad, but at the time i was in school so then it was a big deal. I still haven't forgotten and i swear she will get hers. I can't wait for revenge and revenge i will get for sure. Let me know if you want to pay her a visit there would be green it for you. :) Sorry to hear about your car man, that really sucks. Hope you get it back to its original state soon.

Well it sounds like I can get some parts from KevinM who is semi-local to me and then it will actually be better than it was before.

I think if i were to make a kill switch i'd get a cruise control switch and re-wire it, it would look totally stock, and it's not a flippable kind so it looks normal when it's not in use, and then you hold it down to activate the starter circuit.

I think the eaisest way to do this would be to remove the button from behind the clutch pedal and mount it somewhere else to puch by hand...

if that was done, could the car still be hot wired, or would the clutch safty switch still override that?? I like that idea....

Hey man, I'm sorry for your loss..... Comprehensive coverage is SO IMPORTANT on cars like ours with lots of stuff that can be stolen. I hope you reconsider getting covereage for it. Paying $3000/yr and having your car raped once a year isn't much better then paying $3600/yr in insurance payments, and at least you could sleep better at night.

I have comprehensive and of course I'm older and I get better rates... but they made me sign a waiver that they would only be liable up to $4,000 worth of loss if totalled or stolen because of all the upgrades I've done to the car. So once I get all my body work done and get the car in mint condition I'll most likely be looking for supplemental insurnace like they have for classic cars that will allow comprehensive coverage over the blue-book value. I'd like to get insurnace on my car for $20,000 next year once I'm finished restoring it.

Kill switch is a great idea.... the best place for something like that is the flip coin holder.... next to the dimmer switch. They won't think to look in there.

I've got an alarm pager myself, and my valet switch is in there right now, but I think I'm going to have the valet switch moved and put a kill switch in there instead.

what if you were to wire the switch up to the factory alarm circut? If I'm reading the TEWD right you could toss a switch between the starter relay and the TDS and bam, instant security! Toss a switch in the coinholder, behind the dash skirt, etc...same with the clutch switch and the fuel pump. It'd probably get annoying but I'd do it if it meant saving my car.

I like the idea of the Clutch pedal switch. If a thief went to start it even with the clutch in when you had this switch off it would just not do a thing. Has anyone done this yet? a write-up on this would be awesome.
How does the ECU sense that the clutch is pressed to turn the engine over, what would that sensor/wire be called? I'm definetly going to be looking into this.

Ok, I know this is old, but there are some good ideas here.

Things I've seen that work great as hidden switches.

Large Stereo plugs. (Just a hole with the plug removed, and all you need to do is wire the stereo connections together to complete the connection.) Friend of mine has his fuel pump power supply wired into one of these, and has the plug on his keychain with a quick disconnect. No plug, and the car is not going anywhere.

Using stock switches. You choose, and you can get really sneaky using things they can clearly see, and would not think of trying. (Like the Defogger switch, or headlight washer switch as a momentary button to start the car...)

Window lock is another mentioned here.

Whatever you decide to do, try and find a wire with low current/amp loads, so your switches last longer, and you don't need a relay. (like if you cut into the clutch start switch so you have to push in the clutch, and hold down a button to get the car to start.... A combination of switches thrown the right way is another one I've seen, but I'll not go into great detail on because it could give away ideas to potential theives. (AKA, Ass sucking bastards.)

I really think the fuel pump is the best. They can crank over the engine, but it will never, ever start, and the car can't be bump started this way either. (Something you could do with a clutch kill switch mod, just roll the car down the hill with the ignition on, in second gear, let out the clutch and off you go.)

Whatever you do, do not post pics of the mods on the net. We are all smart, and can figure out this stuff ourselves.

On the theives note, It would be nice to permently loan car thieves copper jacketed lead in so many ways. If your local PD has no intrest in the thefts, perhaps they might be interested in a few corpses reciently suffering from terminal inertia weapons? They might even dust for prints.. LOL

I don't reccomend citizens arrest, or even shot guns. Bring real weapons, and don't bother "arresting" anyone caught dumping or stripping stolen cars. They used to shoot or hang horse thieves, and I belive we never should have stopped the practice.
