How many pounds of boost are you gonna be running? If its not gonna be too much and you're not trying to pull a ton of power I think a low mileage stock 2j block with arp everything and a reseal with your 1j head would actually be cheaper and easier and .2 liters more. That's what I'm gonna be doing with a 6765

I have a 1j atm. Aiming at about 600-650 whp low boost on pump/e85.
the overall cost is going to be around $12-15k (including suspension, wheels, and brakes).
@san supra.
That's what I'm trying to find out. A fully built 1jz should have good gains over stock 2j. I haven't seen one done yet...

its always cool to do things that are different but sometimes its better to follow the pack, this may be a time to follow the pack and go 1.5jz.

2jz can rev just as high and make more torque. (from what i have read/heard)

I put the master cylinder on. I was able to move my stock line over to the other side on this new master cylinder. I did the one man bleed, and took all play out of the clutch. I'm getting good pressure, but still won't go into gear without the wheels turning. The car is on jackstands right now. I put it in first, and the wheels roll. I put it in second and rev it up (wheels spinning) and I hear some ugly clanging going on in the bellhousing. I'm thinking my pressure plate is fubar'd. I think it's the reason it's not releasing the clutch disc and making it possible to go into gear.

When I free rev the engine well on up to 5000rpms it's fine. When I push the clutch pedal to the floor and try to rev it I hear that banging around in the bellhousing. I'm hoping it's the pressure plate. I'm going to begin dropping the trans tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what I find in the next coming days.

As posted on the tech thread:

Ok, here's an update. I pulled the tranny down today. Sucks doing this by yourself by the way. It turns out that the clutch disc IS in backwards. I'm so embarrassed because I've preached over and over to people to not install the clutch disc in backwards and I did. In all my 17 years of turning wrenches, and changing clutch sets for myself and other people I somehow overlooked this one. Oh well.

Funny thing was I swore I didn't do it, and I replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders because I was in denial. I actually conviced myself that the disc was in correctly, but it wasn't. The only thing to do now is put back together correctly and see if it cures the problem. Wish me luck.

Yeah, I was pretty hard on myself yesterday. I want to put my tranny back up today, but I'm waiting for my wife to get up. I need her to operate the floor jack. Hopefully I'll get her to jack it up "just right", and won't have to have her lower it once. Some people don't know how to lower a jack without shit crashing down in an instant. We'll see.

Great idea!! Just kidding... tranny is back up there now. Wife helped me operate the jack. However I did manage to break one tab on the passenger engine to trans bracket. Thank goodness it wasn't an engine mount tab. I was trying to tighten up the bolts to pull the trans to the engine. Like a dummy I was doing the lower bolts first. One broke. I'll replace it later.

I still have to button it up. Driveshaft, exhaust, starter & shifter has to go back up. No biggie though. When I took off my shifter I noticed my green shifter bushing broke in two. I'm going to go ahead and pick up the Marlin Crawler bushing set. Get that notchy feel back again.

Hey does anyone know if 1988ma70supra is still around? It's been awhile but I thought I'd take him up on the ddp offer... the other seller just dissappeared... I finally gave up waiting for response from him. Btw SA Supra, do you still have those interior pieces? :D

I might have my engine and gasket set by the end of June. That's if everything goes according to plan, which you probably know hardly ever happens.
