Rufus, didnt want to jam up your thread so im putting it here. Well my map sensor looks to have had gas pushed through it. Both cam sensors have oil pushed into the plugs. Cold side is torn apart. I should have it put back together soon. Gonna change the oil and see if it gets contaminated again. Im gonna buy both cam sensors and hope I dont need a map sensor they run $300.

Thank you for being considerate and not jamming up my thread with your nonsense 2j jibberish.

Well I'm back to the civilized world, and unfortunately i did not get to go see the rotaries dominate at the drag strip in PR; a big bummer but if i would have gone i wouldn't have gotten a chance to experience the Bio-bays in Vieques which were absolutely mind blowing so i cant be too mad about that.

On a side note, there's a few guys with MK3s and a couple of MK4s that are trying to get Supras together to take some group pics by a professional photographer that wants to submit them to a magazine. There is no charge and the cars don't have to be show quality or anything like that; he just wants to show strong numbers of Supras together in a pic with some variety. The photo shoot will be here local in San Antonio so its definitely something to consider, i'll fill you guys in as more details come up.

Looks like a missed a lot while i was gone: Rufus has his car dialed in and calling out challengers, and the infamous 2J powered MK3 is finally on the road!!! Nice!!!! We definitely need to get together soon!

Welcome back. I've been all hyped up to go to the March Fun Run. I find out that my wife works that Saturday, and I have to take care of my son. So far it doesn't look good that I'll be going... again. I might be able to drop him off with my MotherInLaw then head out there. Well see in the next coming days.

I might be doing the family thing this weekend, so next Saturday I can do my cruise. I will be going out for the March fun run. Chances are I'll be there just before 2pm for the cruise part. I don't think I'm going to participate/spectate in the car show though.

Well I went to start the Supra to prepare it for the show yesterday and nothing, just got the click from the starter relay; tried it again and i got smoke coming from under the dash :3d_frown: Still had plenty of time to figure out the issue since this happened around 1 and the show started at 7 so i disassembled under the dash. and found that the wires to the ignition switch were burnt to a crisp. I checked everywhere locally for a replacement but had no luck. Had to order it and wont receive it until possibly Wednesday, i've never had something like this happen before. Usually the switch just doesn't turn the car over and that's it. You guys think i might have a bigger problem causing a short and the wires to get hot or am i over thinking things and its just age taking its toll on old wiring?

On a side note: I still ended up going to the meet with the Maxima but of course it was not the same, nice chill spot too.

Ok, having car issues again. Car is running like it's missing on one cylinder. It started doing this the last few times I've drove it. On startup it would have a miss, and the car would run rich 10.0. It would do this for roughly 25seconds, clear up, and run smooth with afr's at the normal high 14's. I figured it was either the spark plugs or wires.
Thursday, preparing for the March fun run, I gave the car an oil change. I started the car to let it warm up a little so the oil would flow out easier when I drained it. I saw that the check engine light came on. I continued/completed the oil change, and was going to change the plugs to next day. I didn't bother checking the codes at that time figuring I was going to do it the next day when I changed the plugs.
Friday I change the spark plugs. I inspect each one. I also look for any evidence of arcing, and couldn't find any. Started the car and now it has a continuous miss that doesn't go away.

Check for codes and came up with; 24, 34, 42 & 52. Damn, almost hit that lottery!

Things that I've done:

I unplugged the MAPECU, and reinstalled the stock AFM & readjusted fuel pressure for it. Cleared the codes, and check them again and it displayed the same coded.
I looked at the knock sensor rewired that I did and noticed a hose clamp prong touching the inside the butt connector that I crimped on there. I wouldn't think that would short anything out because the hose clamp is just on a rubber hose. I moved it out of the way. I haven't check any of he wiring with a voltmeter at this point.
I removed all of the spark plug wires and check them with a voltmeter. They all checked out fine.
I inspected the coil pack per TSRM. It checked out fine.
I bought a timing gun and adjusted timing. It was off by a few degrees. Started the car up and it still runs with a miss.
I pulled the plug wires off the coil one by one while it was running, and they all get spark. No irregularities.

Next thing I'm going to do is do another leakdown test, and see what cylinder #1 is up to. Then I'm going to go through the wiring with the voltmeter and make sure everything is sound.

Well, I found a wire that came apart from a crimp I did that's connected to the AFM. Reset the ecu many times over, and still getting codes 24, 34, 42, & 52. More later. I need to go to work.

Stopped by a friends shop to borrow his leak down tester. Performed the test and cylinder #1 had 100% leakage!! Air was blowing past the intake valve cause I heard and felt it come from the throttle body. I quickly checked #6 because it was also at tdc on the compression stroke. 100% leakage in that one blowing past the intake valve, too. Timing belt jumped. I haven't confirmed it yet by taking down the timing cover, but I don't have time to right now. I'm going out to dinner tonight, and don't want to get knee deep into it right now. I'll begin to tear it down in the next coming days and keep you guys informed.

FYI, I went to Millers machine shop and asked them what they charge to bore and hone my cylinders to 0.040" just incase I needed to. $72. They charge $12/cylinder. I just tear it down to the bare block, clean it, bring it in with the piston I would plan on running and they'd machine it. Not bad if I need to go that route.

What's been up guys?
Hey Rufus sorry to hear about your engine. Guess you'll be doing a slight rebuild huh. I still have your engine stand just let me know when you need it. It's been really slow on my end. Spent the last 3wks spending time with my G-ma before she left this world. Been down for a bit but now I have new life in me to get this car started. I've taken inventory on all the parts, screws, nuts and bolts. I'm missing a few things here and there but they're probably put up somewhere or the wifey got tired of seeing it in the house and tossed it. If hasn't been one thing its another when I want to work on this car. I'm beginning to think its cursed.

Sorry about the loss Darrel. At least you did get a chance to spend time with her.
No rebuild needed just yet. I'm such an idiot. First of all, I was doing the leakdown test wrong. I wasn't on the compression stroke when I was taking readings which was giving me 100% leakage. It turned out to be an afm wire came loose from a crimp I did when I had wired up the mapecu. That was giving me all of those cel codes. Then, after I wired it back up I wasn't clearing the ecu from the codes correctly. I kept pulling the main efi relay thinking that was killing the power to the ecu. Wrong. Miguel caught that when I was explaining my problems to him, and now after clearing the ecu no more codes.
Here I go again with retuning the mapecu.

I know this is kind of late notice but found out tonight that Cars and Coffee is back on. They're hosting it at the Lowes off The Rim on the 1st Saturday of every month starting at 8am till about 11. They are trying to keep it on the DL to try and keep some of the douchebags that ruin these meets out so its only getting spread by word of mouth. Ill be there tomorrow if any of you guys read this and have time to go.

Took the car out for a mapecu retune. Since I was tuning for a constant rich condition when the afm wire was disconnected my entire map was lean after fixing the issue. Still have a some more to go, but I'm getting there.
How was C&C?

Did any of your codes come back?

Cars and Coffee was great but cut a little short since its started to drizzle at about 9:45. It is very well organized so i gotta give props to who ever took over. There were 4 sheriffs there to make sure nothing was getting out of order and were also checking out the cars. There were also several volunteers helping out and letting people know where they could park and what not. All in all pretty good time, lots of high end cars because of the location and everyone behaved which shows to be promising for future events.
