I got the head taken off the GTE today.
Found this...

It's not tooo bad. I checked the head for warpage and there is none! :icon_bigg

For some reason only the #1 and #6 pistons look like this..

The other 4 pistons are completely covered in carbon. What is the best way to clean the carbon off???

A couple pics of the head

The valves also need to be cleaned off.

So should I stil lget the head decked since im doing a MHG even though theres no warpage?? If so, how much should i get taken off?

One question that is bugging me is, will I have to swap over any of the wiring other than the engine harness from the turbo car?

Like I know I have to swap over the resistors and ignitor but is there anything else that my N/A has different than my turbo?

yeah, just swap the whole harness, much easier than trying to get your NA stuff to work on the turbo..

as for fuel pumps, I didn't, but it's something to look into upgrading for the future, like a warlbro pump....

looks like your 1st and 6th cylinders were steam cleaned, BHG baby!

Just sent an email for my Titan MHG, ARP head studs, and GReddy timing belt, waiting for a reply and I will have them all ordered.
Also just bought a Blitz turbo timer :-D

So, when I was hooking up my ECU and wiring, I noticed that there are 2 connectors that go through the firewall that go to nowhere in my original N/A car. There is a white plug and a yellow plug.
Am I going to have to swap the wiring from behind the dash????

yeah unless u want to try and re- wire the dash harness. its not to hard to remove your dash its just alot of time. then you can use the turbo cluster n tach,

but someone correct me if im wrong.

also are you getting the block decked so you have a nice smooth surface? i did on my last HG only the head and my block was straight n now i have another bhg hahaha. i would get the block n head resurfaced just to be safe to make the metal gasket seal properly

I give up on trying to find out where wires from the turbo harness go in the N/A interior(near ECU) so I am officially taking both dashes out and swapping over all the wiring....

:-( I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do this!

On a good note...I got the engine bay painted

I got all the wiring out of the N/A last night. It's really not that hard to do actually.

11135_190683786189_560886189_3655657_3004692_n.jpg

And all of the wiring from the N/A from the interior and engine bay(including engine harness)

So I got the dash out of the turbo car, got the harness swapped over to find out that the wires for the tail lights/rear speakers on the turbo car (an 87) run down both the passenger and drivers side of the interior unlike the other car (an 88).

So now I have more work to do which involves removing the rear carpet and seats. Reall pain in the ass but not really hard work. Basicaly I am completely re-wiring my supra lol

The dash has been painted though and I will get pics tomorow when its in the car.
