LS1's sound like popcorn under the hood

but I don't care they're fast as fuck... My friend had a pretty well built LT1 (exhaust, headers, heads, cam, intake, tuning) and his LS1 with JUST a cam is MUCH faster...

And no, the optispark isn't "fixed" it's still a wear item like a distributor cap, so it will need replacing and you'll hate life doing it. On the Impala's it's easier because there's more room, but on an F-body...WTF where they thinking?

Few questions
1st: How the hell does this work? Wouldnt these Turbos have to push quiet a bit of boost to reach it back to the engine for a reasonable gain?

2nd: Since its a bolt on...Gas tank...Wouldnt it be just a bit dangerous to have a hot ass turbo sitting right under the cars tank? I mean you get rearended hard enough, hot + boom stuff is a bad mix it seems...

Also, Water, these sit right on the ass end of the car, basically at the ground, you hit a puddle and its gonna suck up water...

Just a few question...not slamming these, but just a few questions, looks like something I might get my friend to do to his NA, which would be pretty sweet.

heatshields, snorkels, ect...

look up the bolt on kits to see how it's done...

Personally I think they're ugly as hell, sure they get the job done, but it's hard to hide what you have...

It's a closed system. Boost is boost. The only "hard" work is the additional air volume. Remember, these are high compression large cubic inch engines driving TINY turbos (in comparison). They use turbos close to the size of CT-26's on a 5.7 liter or larger motor...

It's where the muffler was. It can't get any hotter than the muffler did... Use thine head young man...

Intake piping.... Most use a snorkel.

I think you could hide it on a GTO or Firebird pretty easily, but it'd be harder on a Camaro because there isn't a whole lot of bumper back there.

I wonder what the Numbers would be with this thing on an NA...

Would it be possible to put it on a turbo car also? Like a 1jz...Twins up front and one in the back?

Sorry but this is interesting!

I don't think you guys are understanding this. There is no power advantage to doing this. It is ONLY done because they have almost no room under the hood. It would blow ASS on an NA, because they are small displacement medium compression motors.

Deadcell's idea could be pretty neat though... Huge single with no lag.

P2070052&

For reference. The black cover goes to the lip of the radiator, then there's the fan obviously. Almost no room up front for anything, let alone a turbo.

So is there more to this kit then just a turbo and the parts to install it? I mean, they say on the site that they have a patent on this system. So I cant just bolt up a turbo to the exhaust of my V8 Truck without getting the system they sell? Its a hell of a thing! I have to get my father to put one on his V8 Supra. haha..

Your dad should have room up front for the turbo. You could piece together your own set up for a rear mount for your truck, just like you can for any other turbo set up...

I realize that, but just the fact that it would be maybe easier to just pop this onto a NA and the heat savings on your engine is prolly worth it too.

to clear things up a bit the supra engine bay is a lot bigger than the 3rd and 4th gen F body. A LOT bigger. Taller, wider, longer. A small block fits in the supra better than in these cars. But there is room up there for a single or twin turbo setup. Im sure its a PITA to assemble but nothing is impossible! the rear mount is just easier, and like SC said, just basically a more simple solution not technically the best
